Finland on the way to NATO

In connection with Russia's ultimatum to the West not to accept NATO countries that fled from the Russian Empire, which would make them defenseless against Moscow's revanchist goal of returning them to the bosom of the empire, Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin announced Finland's possible application for NATO membership. The Finns already had to single-handedly defend their freedom from Russia in 1939-1940, and again to be alone before the Evil Empire means to clothe the country with difficult trials. Prosperous Finland, as a former colony of Russia, is an indicative example for other peoples of the Russian Empire and undoubtedly arouses special rage in the revanchist Putin by its very existence. Putin simply cannot allow the Ukrainian people to follow Finland's example, which would be a big offense for the Russians, and therefore decided to deprive Ukraine of such an opportunity by unleashing a war.

By the way, Sweden may also follow Finland, which has more than once expressed concern about the appearance of Russian submarines in its territorial waters. The Russian Foreign Ministry threateningly warned Sweden and Finland about a response from Russia in the form of military-political actions. The aggressive intentions of the newly-minted Hitler in the person of Putin are more and more rallying the West and faster and faster bringing the Russian Empire closer to its final disintegration.

Putin thinks that he's Stalin, or at least Khrushchev.
He's not, but will probably create a bit of a mess proving it.

I don't think Putin is stupid enough to launch a full scale invasion of Ukraine, with Kiev being it's goal.

He has other options of waging asymmetric warfare to achieve his objectives.

Finland single handedly held off Russia when they were expanding. They are tough and will be a great addition to NATO.

I agree, Finland would be a great addition to NATO?!! The Winter War was probably the coldest modern war ever fought?!! I was reading this book on that war and it showed all these frozen Russian soldiers, in foxholes convoys, and where they fell?!! In this one picture, the frozen dead were stack like cords of wood and their skin color was mahogany it was that damn cold to cause freezer burn! I personally cold not fight in that kind of environment?!!

Turkiye as one of the NATO's decision maker countries, will ban Finland and Sweden from participating NATO.

The alliances and motivations of the world are so much more complex than during the Cold War. Thankfully, we no longer have the idiot trump. This is the type of stuff Biden shines at.

Turkey may be insulted, and complain, but they will be placated, and Finland and Sweden will join NATO. And once again, we will pray trump never is elected to anything.

It will cost too much for NATO countries to "placate" Turkiye, if something like this is going to happen. It also should not be forgotten how unreliable-deceitful-liars NATO countries are, considering their attitudes in their history. The most recent example was that they put Ukraine in front of Russia.

About 10% of Finland's electricity is imported from Russia. That amount can be covered in other ways by Finland, so there is no dependency there, just convenience.

Finland imports 20% of the electricity from Sweden(which in turn gets a lot of electricity from Norway), and there is more than enough electricity in the Nordic grid, so are easily replacing the 10% Russia turned off two days ago. The electricity they are getting from the Nordic countries are a bit cheaper even, so no one is really upset right now.
