Fire-stunt at school pep rally engulfs man in flames; 8 hospitalized, 20 treated

During a pep rally at a Delray Beach high school, a fire breather's face caught fire and the conflagration spread to his arms and body as he attempted to tamp out the flames with his hands.

Engulfed in a fiery ball, he ran onto the gymnasium floor, which also caught fire, video of the incident showed.

The pyrotechnic stunt gone wrong at Atlantic Community High sent the burned performer and seven students to the hospital on the last day of school before spring break. Another dozen people were treated on scene, fire officials said.

Suffering serious injuries, the performer was transported to Delray Medical Center.
