"Analysts in Taiwan have speculated that those sorties could be part of the Chinese military's training to familiarize themselves with the environment around Taiwan, in preparation for any eventualities in the future.
Tensions across the Taiwan Strait have grown recently due to the increasingly aggressive behavior of China in reaction to closer ties between the United States and Taiwan."

Russia takes Crimea, which historically probably belongs to Russia.
I wonder if a similar comparison could also be applied to Taiwan?

If the mainland takes over Taiwan, it will have been our fault.
We should have normal relations with Taiwan, and if the mainlanders don't like it, they can call their own diplomats home.
Also, the UK should have never abandoned Hong Kong.

The Chinese are not a belligerent people by nature, but if you kowtow to them constantly, they are going to notice and take advantage.
