The cuts will affect ABC News Group and Disney Entertainment Networks with the company looking to adjust business strategies as the cable audiences migrate toward streaming platforms, according to The Wall Street Journal,
At ABC News, investigative show 20/20 and late-night news program Nightline are set to merge into a single unit. Good Morning America is also seeing structural changes, with all three hours of the show now falling under one production team instead of separate management.
The decision to ax FiveThirtyEight, the data-driven political analysis site founded by statistician Nate Silver and acquired by ABC in 2018, marks a significant shift for the network’s future election coverage.
Silver, who parted ways with ABC in May 2023, reacted to the news in a post on X:

The website began as an independent polling aggregation platform before becoming a licensed feature at The New York Times. In 2013 it was acquired by ESPN before being transferred to ABC News, a sister enterprise under The Walt Disney Company.
