Officials To Register With State Or Face Fines

A Florida lawmaker has proposed a bill that would require bloggers who write about Governor Ron DeSantis or other elected officials to register with the state or face fines.

The legislation, proposed by State Sen. Jason Brodeur, a Republican, also would require that the bloggers disclose how much they are being paid for their posts.

Under the terms of the bill — read it here — “if a blogger posts to a blog about an elected state officer and receives, or will receive, compensation for that post, the blogger must register with the appropriate office” within “5 days after the first post by the blogger which mentions an elected state officer.”

Sounds like what Nazis did to Jews before WWII.

the blogger is a lobbyist if he is being paid to push an agenda

Do democrats want to coddle lobbyists?

ROTFLMfAO!!!

How embarrassing. Propose a bill that would overtly violate the Constitution. DeSantis continues to prove he is a fascist. Plain and simple, that's exactly what the state of Florida is becoming. A Nazi state with a short little thin skinned Hitler. Wait until Trump really gets hold of him. It will be epic.

If it passed, I'd violate it the first day and laugh my ass off. Come and get me. It would be SO much fun

The Gunshine State is rapidly becoming a DeSantis fiefdom, it is his way or the highway, not quite the model the Founding Fathers had in mind

Could be true, however, the bill really doesn’t define what is a “blogger,” which opens up a whole arena of First Amendment lawsuits

Pretty obvious DeSantis only does this shit to draw attention to draw attention, the more he can outrageous Trump the closer he gets to capturing more of the Trump lemmings in a primary. It works, notice all the MAGA militia here who are now big DeSantis guys

If you are being paid to offer a political opinion, you are a lobbyist and not simply a concerned citizen. Nobody is saying you can't do it, they just say you have to be transparent
