For Some White People, being Racist is like being Liam Neeson in Taken

In Yo Face!
You’d think learning that Sarah Braasch—the woman who called the police on Yale graduate student Lolade Siyonbola for #NappingWhileBlack—is a philosophy Ph.D. candidate who’s studied gender and law would add something to this story. A surprise, perhaps, that a person who has undoubtedly encountered lessons on unconscious bias and systemic oppression would be so transparently racist. Or maybe even a shock that someone so educated could do something so, well, stupid.

But nah. Hearing about her academic background is no different from discovering that her hair is brown or that her favorite movie is Die Hard With a Vengeance. It adds no context, provides no insight and doesn’t even begin to nudge the needle in either direction. We know, already, that racism—anti-blackness, specifically—follows white people wherever they happen to be, as if anti-blackness uses Waze to locate and track them. Yale, Yellowstone National Park, the year 2018—it doesn’t matter. For white people, being racist is Liam Neeson in Taken:

I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don’t have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you.

That said, I strongly doubt that Braasch felt a genuine fear for her life. Just how I don’t believe that the white woman who called the police on the men in that Philly Starbucks did, or even that the white woman who harassed the men in Oakland, Calif., for #CookingOutWhileBlack did. Instead, they all felt uncomfortable. And not necessarily a discomfort that comes with mortal fear, but the way you might feel uncomfortable or annoyed if your Spotify playlist keeps crashing or if your new MacBook Pro can’t connect to your home Wi-Fi. For them—and for (too many) white people, in general—the police serve a similar function.

Black People barbecuing in a park and using charcoal instead of propane? Call the fucking SWAT!

Black People disputing a charge at Waffle House? Call the FBI!
Black People napping in a Public Common Dorm area? Call the Cops!
Black People moving into an apartment? Call the Cops!

What the hell ever happened to Minding your own God-damn business?

What the hell ever happened to going up to someone and saying; "hey, you know that if you use charcoal, you're supposed to be over in this area"...

What the hell ever happened to if they keep say; "OK" and keep on barbecuing, you walk the fuck away, let them take the 15-20 minutes to cook their fucking steaks, and MOVING ON WITH YOUR OWN FUCKING LIFE?

What the hell ever happened to letting someone NAP IN FUCKING PEACE and walking the fuck away? Lock your damn door if that upsets you, but you DON'T CALL THE FUCKING COPS

Back in the day, you only called the cops if there was a fucking emergency, or there was blood...even then, if someone busted your nose in a fight, you took your lumps and walked home like a MAN, not Like a Sniveling Little Bitch.

I always say that, when faced with a situation, I ask myself; "am I willing to die on that hill"? In other words...is this something that is so damn important I'm willing to put serious skin in the game.

Why are White People so Fucking Afraid of Black People ... ?

Stop calling the cops for stupid shit and try acting like a Fucking Adult.

For some white people, that old southern charm never went away. The confederacy ended in a way, but it wasn't squelched out of existence like it should have been. What enemy gets to wave it's emblems around for generations, in public square no less. It's also supposed to be accepted as simple heritage. Fuck that shit a hundred times over. Even the mod, billy, being a huge One Piece fan, knows the flags importance, and meaning to groups like that.

I've had the same thin done to me by some old neighbors, lucky for me, the Cops where just as annoyed as I was, about being called for Bull Shit.

I wished more Cops had that same mentality.

I taught at Purdue for almost 10 years until about 4 or 5 years ago. One of the things I noticed, and actually I remember from when I went to IU, we and they slept everywhere. Sometimes I would fall asleep outside a class I had to be at in an hour so one of my class mates would wake me up and get me to class. Often I would get to the cafeteria and take a nap after I ate in the common area, again so I would not over sleep. Purdue students do that to this day. I noticed the couches are a bit more comfortable and some even have cushions, but it doesn't seem to me college students have changed much over the years. There must be more to this story, because a normal sleeping student is barely noticeable.

No one is afraid of black people. That's the arrogant mindset of blacks. Most people realize the majority of them won't amount to anything in life and wish they'd quit blaming slavery, whites, and any other thing they can use as an excuse for their failures.
