Just ran across this in another forum where I participate. I thought it 'splained things so well, I would post it here. It was from Twitter. I cannot cut and paste, but here it is in excerpt:

No. The point of the comment is that people who use "Chinese virus" because the virus MAY have originated in China...should be calling themselves cunts.

How is your son?

Last week on our local news they had phone interviews nightly with a guy in the UP with COVID. I think he might have been the first identified patient or something. He was recovering at home, described his symptoms (fatigue was the worst, he said). Then the other day instead of an interview, they said that he had been taken to the hospital and was on a vent. No word since. I hope he makes it. This shit is terrifying.

And that's exactly what racists insist on calling it "the Chinese virus."

If #COVID45 had been IMPOTUS in 2009, they would have been calling the swine flu the "Mexican virus" since it originated there. So much for Obama being the racist president. :laugh:

Oh, I am not saying it is racist.

I am saying it is fucking ignorant.

But the people doing it are mostly Trump supporters, so I guess I ought to cut them some slack.

China is a nation of one billion people, and the Chinese nation is not collectively responsible for the COVID-19 Trump virus.

Covid 19 originated, apparently, from bats, so it is obviously the trumpf virus. Phantasmol's son ill? Good luck to him, indeed. You'll be glad to know my daughter, son-in-law and baby grandchild are fit now.

This stuff is bad. My son is great, haven’t heard from him, yet, today, the three hour time difference. My grandson is sitting up now, a milestone I’m missing, he also got another tooth! It’s that hardest part of this, not being able to kiss on the grands.

This is great news, very happy for you. No, my son isn’t ill, but he had to travel from Houston, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska, he is in quarantine there for 14 days, then he will go to work up at the Alpine oil field. His company has put him up in an extended stay hotel and are delivering meals to him. He’s bored, but well.

Doesn't it stink! And ours is just learning to walk, and talk a bit, like a version of 'Tadcu' (Grand-dad) on seeing my zoom image, or so I'm told. Doesn't deeply resemble that word, to my ear!;)
