Fox News Goes Hog-Wild With Exaggerations About the Durham Probe

Since Fox News published a widely misleading article about the Durham filing, which suggests the special counsel’s filing says that Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign “infiltrated” Trump’s White House servers, the network has run wall-to-wall coverage declaring the “bombshell” story “bigger than Watergate” while chastising other media outlets for ignoring it.

Needless to say, Fox News’ own coverage of what it describes as a “massive scandal” has not only been largely exaggerated but has run the gamut from disingenuous to entirely false.

Fox News and right-wing media have skewed what Durhams’s filing actually said. For one, despite what countless on-air segments and reports claimed, the special counsel never once used the word “infiltrate.” Additionally, Durham did not claim in the pleading that the tech firm was ever paid by the Clinton campaign.

Much of this confusion stemmed from Fox News reporter Brooke Singman’s early story on the Durham motion, which included the explosive headline “Clinton campaign paid to ‘infiltrate’ Trump Tower, White House servers to link Trump to Russia, Durham finds.” Those claims were not made by the special counsel but rather by Trump stooge Kash Patel, who seemingly went out of his way to mischaracterize the motion for Fox News.

So, does this make them even with CNN and MSNBC (among others) gushing for months on end that the Mueller probe was going to finish Trump?

Have too, ain't got a lot of things going right for them, Trump and his associates are being hammered nearly daily with revelations coming out regarding January 6th, their mask obsession is gone with States lifting mandates, and Covid is projected to be seemingly fading heading into the Spring, the base has to have something to get excited about, it being real or not isn't important

Yep. Nowhere in Durham's filing does he state that lawyers for the Clinton campaign paid a tech company to "infiltrate" servers belonging to Trump Tower and later the White House. This was all invented out of whole cloth by the right wing BS machine, and it's exactly for the reason you state. It's going to blow up on them spectacularly and very soon. But no biggie - they will just invent something new and all of the righties here and on Twitter will pretend it never happened and start making frenzied posts about the new "scandal."
 
Durham is also a Barr/Trump operative and this will likely blow up on him too. He doesn't put this shit in his filings, he says it on tv. The noise machines, the Hannitys, etc, know it's not in his filings, and know why, but they lie. It's the same that happened when they were all screaming election fraud, and then in court cases, Giuliani et el when asked by the judge, where is the fraud? Would state, ON THE RECORD, oh we're not alleging fraud your honor. It's why they lost all their show pony cases.

I understand all of this. What I don't understand is don't the dupes in the base ever get tired of being dogwalked by their own people?

No it won't, "blow up on them spectacularly," just like all the fabrications and conspiracies they have promoted over the years, they will go with it as long as the base swallows it and them move on to the next one, the lemmings have never held them accountable for any of the lies they sold to them no matter how ridiculous it made them look

Yeah that’s what I said I know what they will do. But Sussman filed to dismiss and that is going to be very interesting. As far as to whether or not it blows up I guess we will see.
