After double-digit gains during last year’s presidential election, May 13-17 saw the progressive-aligned “Lean Forward” news network hit new lows as the IRS scandal erupted and revelations that the Justice Department secretly obtained AP records became public. With 350,000 viewers on average and 94,000 in the adults 25-54 demo, MSNBC had its least-watched and lowest-rated total-day results of the year last week. That was also the lowest total-day demo result the network has had since the week of June 26-July 2, 2006, when MSNBC pulled in just 83,000 viewers among adults 25-54, according to Nielsen data."

I wonder how many people tune in just to find out what the latest rant is going to be? Because....the people sure as hell vote a lot differently than the viewership suggests.

It's kind of like that scene in Howard Sterne's autobiographical movie "Private Parts". They were showing polling data. The data was split about 50/50 in the "love him/hate him" category. The guy asked...."why do they keep listening?" The answer on both sides was..."I want to know what he's going to say next"

That's why...IMO...FoxNews has a following.
 
Look, you have three legitimate news sources, NBC, CNN and CBS. They all fight for the group of Americans looking for real news. Then you have one tabloid Conservative masturbation news network and that's Fox. Im not surprised they beat the three legit's, but they are not fighting for the same audience.

So...they should throw aside journalistic integrity for ratings like Fox does? Maybe they have a sense of ethics that Rupert an the boys DON'T have.

The best measure of journalistic integrity ultimately comes down to the opinions of those tuning in. After all, why would anyone tune in if they thought they were being lied to?

Which brings us back to your earlier assertion, that FNC is just great at marketing. If so, then why do NBC, CNN and CBS suck at marketing so bad? Is everyone just dumber than you?

They don't beat the three legits. Look at the numbers for NBC Nightly News. It equals all of the Fox shows combined.

But, I did not say that ALL stupid old farts watch TV News. I should have been more careful not to imply that of those who watch TV News ALL are "stupid old farts." Just a large number of them are "stupid old farts."

Their marketing is infused in the product they put out.....It's a false and frankly, stupid analogy.

That's just it...you DON'T think you're being lied to. You'll refuse to accept actual news without the right wing spin in favor of right wing propaganda....because it's what you want to hear....so either..

A. You are gullible as hell

B. You know that it's all spin and don't care...you like it for the entertainment value and don't care whether it's factual or not.

That's why Fox is against the fairness doctrine...because there schtick would fall apart if they were required to be factual.
