An interesting point and one worth consideration, no need for another Civil War, this time we just set them free and stop bailing them out etc. What do you think? Freedom, freedom, freedom....

"Now, if it is assumed that corporations are persons and are thus entitled to 1st Amendment rights (at least in the United States) it would certainly seem to follow that they are entitled to all the rights of persons. Or, at the very least, the other constitutional rights.

Corporations can, of course, be owned. In fact, common stock is bought and sold as a matter of routine business and provides an ownership share in a corporation. Since corporations are people, this means that people are being allowed to legally own other people. Owning another person is, of course, slavery. While slavery was legal at one time in the United States, the 13th amendment is rather clear on this matter..." http://blog.talkingphilosophy.com/?p=3836

Actually the 13th only disallows INVOLUNTARY servitude. So if you can prove said corporations are being owned against their will, you might have a point. Its no different than being considered government property whe you're in the military.

does that mean that the ceos are the slave masters or just the stockholders

i always wondered how a corporation could be a person since it is owned and run by one or more people

Me too, the supreme court seemed to think them persons without considering the many persons who make up a corporation.

"This is when the Republican Party set its trap. Meeting in closed sessions at the beginning of the Obama regime, the party of tax cuts for the rich, unfunded wars, and the largest deficit in the history of the country redefined itself. It suddenly became the party of deficit reduction through lean government joined to supreme confidence in unregulated financial and corporate markets. It even opposed the bail out of General Motors and Chrysler, though these actions stopped unemployment from reaching a dangerous tipping point, allowed the two companies time to reconstruct themselves, and enabled them to pay back the loans within two years–-creating one of the most successful bailouts in the history of Euro-American economic life." http://contemporarycondition.blogspot.com/2011/06/republican-pincer-machine.html

they still oppose any real relief for anyone other that then 1%, even in the face of polls and data showing that tax relief to the 1% is ineffective

Ever hear of a hostile takeover?

If we extend the "coroporations are people" metaphor, a hostile takeover is enslavement, and must be illegal according to the consitution.

Thank me later for providing the legal arguments which save all humanity from fascistic oppression.
