Gavin Newsom vs Kamala Harris

For sh*ts and giggles since people love discussing the horseraces, how do you think this race would turn out? There's no guarantee Biden runs for re-election. And it doesn't appear Harris will be 'handed' the nomination so she's going to have competition.

Newsom has always had his eye on the Presidency. And what's interesting is Newsom and Harris did their best to make sure their paths didn't cross (in fact at one point there was talk of Harris running for Governor and Newsom for Senate, but they weren't going to run for the same position). If Newsom doesn't run in '24, and a Democrat wins, he's not running until '32. He's not old relatively speaking but that's a long way out.

So if these two are the leading candidates, who wins?

as I recall Harris did not even lead the polls in California during the primaries......of course, there's no reason to expect Newsome would either.....

That’s easy. Any Republican.
Harris is widely considered stupid and unlikeable. Newsome is widely considered to be an elitist wine snob soy boy.
If those two are the the best dims can muster it shows how completely out of touch dims are these days.
Whatever happened to Martin O’Malley?

No one in America. Lord help us all.

Newsom gets the Progressive Vote.
Harris gets the Black Vote.

Wokesters throw their weight to Harris ... Republican Wins.

I've shard this story before, I've donated to one politician in my life - Gavin Newsom. It was the late '90's and he was running for Mayor. His opponent I believe was Matt Gonzales, a Green Party member. Newsom was a Democrat but he was a business owner (in fact I met my wife at a restaurant he owns) and promoted a Care Not Cash program for dealing with the homeless. As far as San Francisco goes he was about as good as it gets in my mind at the time. I got to meet him a couple of times at different events and he was both somewhat socially awkward yet also had a certain level of charisma about him.

But you knew he had his eyes on a bigger prize. He was going places.

Newsome and Harris...

No difference...

Harris gets no votes as proven by her run for President, while Newsome gets the Progressive vote and the Republican wins.

I think Harris is too toxic to the party so if they had no one else, its Newsome.
And he loses unless China does a repeat.

I had not seen this article before I posted this yesterday. The perspective makes sense to me. You have the more moderate and non coastal wing of the party and you have the Bernie/progressive wing. Newsom is the epitome of a progressive coastal elite, so that doesn't help him with moderates, but many progressives don't trust him (see running on supporting Single Payer then not supporting it when it came up in the legislature). So it doesn't look like he has a clear lane to take to the nomination.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom needs a reality check on his presidential ambitions
