A know there are a lot of Shawshank Redemption fans out there. We all remember the trouble Brooks had when he was finally released. Red called it being institutionalized.
Darryl Reed aka Lil D is a few years older than me and he was the crack king of Oakland by the time he was 18. He was arrested at the age of 20 in 1988 was given 35 years. Obama granted him clemency and he was released after 28.
When he was arrested those big brick cellphones existed but not many people had them of course. If you are so inclined go to 9:39 mark and you'll hear describe what it was like when he went to the airport straight after being released. (It will remind you of Shawshank)
