Giuliani shocks Yankee fans; backs Red Sox in World Series

(CNN) — It may be politically popular in the heart of Red Sox Nation, but that probably didn’t make the admission any easier for Yankee fan Rudy Giuliani.

The former New York City mayor acknowledged at a Boston news conference Tuesday he is rooting for the rival Red Sox to win the World Series.

“I’m not saying that just because I’m here in Massachusetts,” the Republican presidential candidate said to applause and laughs. “If I’m in Colorado in the next week or two, you will see I will have the courage to tell the people of Colorado the same thing.”

He said that, as an American League fan, he always backs the team from the Yankees’ league.

Giuliani was in Boston to pick up the endorsement of former state treasurer Joe Malone, in the backyard of challenger Mitt Romney — the former governor of Massachusetts.

On Wednesday morning, the New York media took Giuliani to task for his team turnabout. In front page placements, the New York Post called the former mayor a "Red Coat," and the New York Daily News proclaimed him a "traitor."

I'm glad you're not backing him, but for Christ's sake. It's this type of trivial shit that is deciding factor on a candidate as flat out awful as Giuliani?

have to agree w/ chap on that one... its the yankees and whomever is against the red sox. and the same is true of redsox fans.
 
I'll have to simply say, it's the Rockies. That's all. Nothing more. If the Rockies are not in the series, then I don't care and don't watch the series.

Nobody cares. I certainly don't care who he roots for in the World Series or even why.

I do know that regardless of who goes to the Superbowl I root for the AFC team, unless it is the Raiders.

I don't care. And I wouldn't care if I lived in Boston. There is no way I would use fan base as a measure of who should be President, even if he was rooting for the Raiders.

I don't care about the rivalry. And if you did nobody there would vote Hillary for pretending to be a NY Yankees fan when she clearly never was before.

I root for the National League unless it's the Mets.

I do know that regardless of who goes to the Superbowl I root for the AFC team, unless it is the Raiders.

If the Colts make it and aren't playing my Cowboys I root for the Colts.

Otherwise I root for the NFC team unless it's the Bears.

I did root for Elway when he won his two.
 
Oh, and in the overall scheme of Baseball, I root for my Cardinals and whomever is playing against the Yankees.
 
Its only ok to be a NY fan in Massachusetts if your older then the patriots franchise and are a Giants or Jets fan. Otherwise not ok.
