I just read this on the Rachel Maddow site (not a big fan, but it came on my FB page via a friend link):


Remember that time President Obama raised the minimum wage for federal contract workers and Republicans freaked out but then nothing bad happened (not even socialism!)?

We dont have journalists anymore, so how do you know that nothing bad happened?

The executive order will require all federal agencies to incorporate a $15 minimum wage into new contract solicitations by January 2022 and into newly signed contracts by March 2022. The minimum hourly rate will then rise annually to keep pace with inflation.

This order "will build on the Obama-Biden Executive Order 13658, issued in February 2014, requiring federal contractors to pay employees working on federal contracts $10.10 per hour, subsequently indexed to inflation," according to the White House statement.

The minimum wage for workers performing work on covered federal contracts is currently $10.95 per hour, and the tipped minimum wage is $7.65 per hour.

really? Ever hear of Greg Palast? Amy Goodman? You mean that you don't have ANY local, regional or national newspapers/services that you trust? Ever do any comparative reading/listening of various news services? And if things were really going to screw up like the GOP predicts, don't you think entities like Fox News would have been blaring it 24/7 for upcoming elections?

Yes. He raised it to $10/hour, and trump immediately cut their pay

Our government ( I am including the "press" and Big Tech) does not believe in transparency and is allergic to Americans finding anything that would challenge their power, and their arguments to grab for even more power as they constantly do.....we are flying blind now.....we live under a totalitarian regime now.....and the lost of journalism is a big part of what went wrong.

Nice try, but you can't dodge the questions I put to you. Clearly, you can't bitch about the OP or the subsequent answers YOU provided...which is funny that YOU provide a source of facts that obviously YOU believed valid. You can't have it both ways.

I'm not saying things are peachy keen, but there are ways to still source out the truth....we still have that to a degree. Otherwise, if things were as bad as you say, this site wouldn't exist, now would it? ;)

It is going away....I was on record about that a few months back.

I will miss this place, it is the first not woke run place I have found in a long time....I was done with forums before Frank Apisa out of the abundant kindness of his heart directed me here.
 
If there were any decent investigative journalists in the US, it would be a soap opera every day.
