A 45-year-old Southfield Township man is recovering after accidentally shooting himself...


He has a license to carry a handgun and was wearing the .40-caliber Glock in his front waistband...


The man had arrived at a home to do some work, according to Birmingham Police Cmdr. Terry Kiernan.


“He’s standing in the driveway, he pulls out the gun and it accidentally discharged,” Kiernan said.


The bullet went through the victim’s penis and lodged in his leg, according to police.

An off-duty employee of the Skamania County Sheriff's Office was sent to the hospital Saturday morning after he accidentally shot himself at a gun show in Carson, officials said.


Skamania County sheriff’s deputies were called to the American Legion Hall in Carson just before 11 a.m. after hearing reports of an accidental shooting.


When they arrived they found Pete Tennison, 53, with a .45-caliber gunshot wound to the upper thigh.


Tennison, a sworn peace officer with a limited commission, supervises inmate work crews from the Skamania County Jail. He does not carry a firearm as part of his work.
