[/SIZE]The Republican Party's road map for winning presidential elections looks hazier than ever
as GOP lawmakers and others reject the obvious lessons from Thurston's loss last year.

Despite Romney's poor showing among female voters, House Republicans this past week invited
renewed taunts of a "war against women" by passing the most restrictive abortion measure in years.

A successful presidential candidate "must differentiate himself from the very toxic GOP congressional brand,"
said Steve Schmidt, a top aide to the Sen. John McCain. Schmidt said the GOP contender will probably be
a governor or "an iconoclast senator" who is seen as standing apart from GOP assholes that so angers voters.

So, the only way the GOP can win is to say, "Our party is crazy?"

Good luck with that, you racist dogs.

I love the grave digging by the republicans who get abortions themselves.
It's amazing how in my life time things have changed 180 degrees. When I first registered to vote the Democrats were the party of rednecks and extremist. It was the Democrats who were famous for their circular firing squads and it was the Republicans who were center right and stood for smart & responsible government.

Now it's the Republican party that is the party of extremist and rednecks who keep consistantly shooting themselves in the foot and the Democrats who have become the center right party of smart & responsible government.

In the last 30 years, and other than supply side economics, I can't think of a single issue or policy I've significantly changed my views on yet here I am a solid Democrat after over 20 years of being a Republican.

It's been a wierd sea change.

"Smart and responsible government" .. you've gotta' be joking.

Today's democrats are every bit as warmongering as are republicans .. if not more so. Democrats can no longer claim they belong to a party that pursues peace. Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Obama, Kerry .. all warmongers of the highest order.

Today's democrats are every bit as corporatist as are republicans .. if not more so. It's the 'C' word that democrats hide from while KNOWING their party is completely owned and operated by the corporate will.

Obama attacks Social Security and Medicare .. and the sequester is HIS idea, not republicans as he tried to claim.

They couldn't even get healthcare right BECAUSE they are owned by the corporate will. AND, because Obama pursued what is best for corporations, not the American people, democrats paid a heavy price in 2010 .. AND, they are going to pay again in 2014 .. resulting in a republican controlled House and Senate..

The republican strategy for 2016 is indeed as fucked up as they are .. but before anybody gets too happy, the democratic strategy is equally as fucked up as they are.

You're in the wrong canoe friend. I'm talking about the electorate. You're talking about the political parties.

no its not.

The democratic party is no where near the same level of disfunction as the Republicans are.

I agree it looks bleak for the Republicans from todays view... but often when it looks bleak for one party, they have a great opportunity to fly up from the ashes.

What's the difference? These are the people democrats vote for .. AND, that electorate has proven itself to be every bit as partisan-blind as are republicans .. often making the same arguments they argued against when Bush was in office..
