This past October, social justice warriors were out in full force protesting against certain costumes. Apparently, if you dress up as someone from another culture, you are engaging in “cultural appropriation” and are therefore a walking microaggression. According to The Free Dictionary, the definition of “costume” is: a style of dress, including garments, accessories, and hairstyle, especially as characteristic of a particular country, period, or people. Isn’t a costume then, by its very definition, attire that represents something or someone other than yourself? Sigh.

Let's face it, if you cut out all serious politics, the substitute is going to be about things that are elsewhere matters of conscience and goods taste. In a totally racist society (are NO Americans aware of what Baldwin said about the reason 'black' people have to be at the bottom of the silly competitive pile?) all such issues are going to include a racist element, obviously.
