My kids and I were talking online about Halloween. It used to be my biggest holiday.

What is the best halloween costume you ever had?

I hung a box of cheerios with a knife stuck in it around my neck as one costume.

My best was a flasher though. put on shorts and a tee. Wore a trench coat with dress shoes socks and actually bought some sock garters to wear. I was wired with 4 strobes triggered with a switch up the sleeve. whip open the coat and flash! everyone got flashed.

One year I went as a Priest while my brother was Satan...

My first wife and I went to a halloween party as a priest and nun. She was about 6 months pregnant at the time. We got some odd looks.

Years ago a friend went to a halloween party. The rules were that you could have any costume you wanted as long as it was something deadly.

She wore a large cardboard box decorated with windows and a banner that said :

Riverfront Coliseum welcomes The WHO!

I thought it was brilliant, but lots of folks didn't get it.

The "Little Green Sprout".

One of our students is quite tall and came in a couple of years ago wearing a full-body shark suit. It was the coolest costume I've ever seen! :)

This year my middle child is going as a beekeeper, and the littlest as a bee.

The eldest (the adoptee) is now "too old" for all that. I'm depressed. I'm now the father of somebody too old to trick or treat.

Just wait, Damo. It gets worse.

one year I was a pimp. I also had a pimp cane. And a bunch of us went to an awesome party and I got pretty drunk. I would tap girls with my pimp cane to have them dance with me. No other time in my life have I had contact with such hot girls. Best night ever. RIP 2006.

The frats do serve their purpose nicely on Halloween. I'm assuming the party was put on by a frat at your school?

Yeah esp if a she. You will get here back with a couple of grandkids after a divorce. well statistically speaking that is.

the good side is you will have the grandchildren there, the bad side is you will have the grandchildren there.

I am as proud of my kids as a person could get. They turned out to be remarkable people.

But I do miss some of the times with little kids. Halloween is one of those times. It is the BEST holiday for kids.

Xmas has all that commercialism, the religious overtones, and all that "You better be good" stuff.

Halloween says nothin about being good. You get into the best costume you can, and go knocking on doors and they give you candy. We would spend months planning, weeks making and several hours putting on the makeup & costumes. It was the best.

Yep Sol one of the few remaining Pagan holidays.

I don't know. I still get a big kick out of christian carolers singing about Yule Tidings or such. Every decorated xmas tree is keeping those pagan traditions alive, even if the owners don't know it.

And I LOVE watching christians try and explain the connect between little bunny rabbits and a state execution. Easter is a lotta laughs for me too.

Did you ever watch the history of Christmas on the history channel. A good eye opening see.

Yes I have. Its an excellent eye opener for those who beieve Jesus was born on Dec 25th with a decorated tree in the banr.
