this says it all, and yes, i was a fan.

I’m fully expecting comments making fun of Hammer. But whatever you think about his music or early career decisions, the guy took way more abuse than he deserved. He never committed a crime, he did a ton of charity work, he’s been married to the same woman for decades and he has ALWAYS been loyal to Oakland. At one point I’m pretty sure he was the city’s biggest employer.

this is a guy who went from nothing, to mega something, to BK and never gave up and is still something. most stars in his shoes lose it, end up drug addicts, alcholics etc...but he is an example of america, you can be who you want to be, if you don't give up.
 
MC Hammer is ahight in my book. I remember when "Can't Touch This" was the theme song for the Nasty Boys when the Reds had their championship season in 1990. Ironic as hell that we swept Oakland in the series. :)
