I think Trump is really on the track for authoritarianism, more than totalitarianism.

Nope. The lawsuits were solid. He was convicted of 34 felony counts and found liable for sexual assault and slander. Grand juries indicted him on every fucking other count, but then he got elected and they could not proceed.
