I have been there, no need for me to return.
The place is beautiful, but not my style. I am not into gold gilt and showy wealth.
Nothing wrong with wealth, showy wealth is ok, just not my game.
I have nothing to prove. I do not care what others think about my wealth or lack of wealth.

As I have posted before, my friends at our club do not consider a person with 2 or 3 million dollars to be wealthy.
The consensus appears to be 5 million and above.
Legacy wealth is valued.
I agree with them.
Its all a matter of perspective.
My brother owned a bank in Texas and one of his customers had a nine million dollar checking account (not a commercial account, just a personal account).

Id consider that, not so sure its a great idea for you. The South American nations are almost all very liberal compared to the United States.
The move would have been necessitated by survival, not politics.
It's probably a good thing that he nixed the idea.

He was conversant in German. I helped him with vocabulary in college. German is a guttural language. Unlike French and Spanish which both are enchanting to hear.
