Harry Ried Is a Douchebag

So Harry has decided that he doesn't want to honor the hold that Senator Dodd has placed on one of the two FISA bills in the Senate. The bill in question gives the telecos retroactive immunity for violating federal law. There is a second bill that Harry could have brought to the floor that no one has a hold on and was reported out of the Judiciary Committee that doesn't include retroactive immunity for the telecos. Harry let that one sit.

Meanwhile, Harry has honored the holds of Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and a number of other GOP senators for bills that the body would overwhelmingly support.

Nice work, Harry. You douchebag.

Note: The title should be "Harry Reid" not "Harry Ried". That is all.

He’s probably in their pockets. He’s a big-business democrat. I’ll bet he’s taking some nice money in from the telecommunication companies on this.
He’s done nothing for me since he got in. All I can think is, this is the best the Democrats can come up with?

Everytime I jump on these threads to agree I get called a Republican.

But yes, Harry Reid is a splineless servant of entrenched interests.

The answer is of course...........

YES

YES

Well, the answer is no. In fact, the Democrats can come up with better. A few names that immediately come to mind are Russ Feingold and Chris Dodd. Of course, this doesn't mean that the Democrats will come up with better. They won't.

I was being sarcastic. I agree that Dodd is better than Reid, but Feingold is an far left nutter.

Yeah, he may be a far left nutter (which is probably why I like him) but at least Feingold isn't bought and paid for like a lot of the rest of them. If you want a list of Democrats that I wouldn't rescue if they were drowning just take a look at the Bankruptcy Bill roll call vote for any Democrat that voted "yea."

ok, in that sense I will agree with you. While I disagree with him on pretty much everything, he is at least more principled than Reid and most of Congress. But would that translate into better leadership? Perhaps. But most certainly not the type of leadership I would want to see.... and we all know that my opinion is the only one that matters.

I'd also point out that an article in the NY Times yesterday revealed that the NSA worked with AT&T to set up a massive communications monitoring system in February of 2001, one month after GWB took office and nine months before 9/11.

Any claim that the telecos were simply responding to an emergency situation that existed as a result of 9/11 is bullshit and this retroactive immunity business is a sick joke.

In all, this whole affair is ridiculous. No wonder there are conspiracy nutters out there; there are conspiracies afoot.
