I suspect Republican officials, especially in Washington, had high hopes about the latest batch of polls. After all, the Beltway has embraced "scandal mania" in recent weeks, subjecting President Obama to near-constant criticism, even though the controversies don't relate to him directly.

But with several new national polls released this week -- CNN, Pew Research Center, USA Today, Washington Post/ABC News -- there's very little good news for Republicans. On the contrary, it seems the party's lack of popularity is preventing Republicans from taking advantage of the larger scandal-generated opportunities.

This chart, for example, shows the results from the CNN poll, which asked respondents for their general attitudes towards the two major political parties. For Democrats, support is up, and a 52% majority has a favorable opinion of the party. For Republicans, support is down, and a 59% majority has a unfavorable opinion of the party.

Adding insult to injury, the GOP's standing in the poll is at its third-lowest point since CNN started doing polls a couple of decades years ago.

In the Washington Post/ABC News poll, respondents were asked whether Congress is concentrating on issues that are important to them personally. While 43% said congressional Democrats are focused on the correct priorities, only 33% said the same about congressional Republicans.

Meanwhile, President Obama's approval rating is up to 53% in the CNN poll, up to 51% in the Post/ABC poll, and up to 53% in the USA Today poll. (The Pew Research poll did not publish a presidential approval rating.)

Another dumbass who thinks Faux is the only news...All the others are part of the "great conspiracy". Every one...except Fox....at least that's what Fox tells you.
 
He was, I am sure, right there with Hannity and Rove this past November...claiming that the pollsters were all in the bag for the democrats and Mittens was actually not only gonna win, but win big!

Actually no, but I suppose you think msnbc is the gospel, and yes the liberal diseased msm is part of the Obama team they spread lies and disinformation and cover up, and are told what to report and when.

And ya know what? I can perfectly well imagine that there were some all black precincts in towns like Philly where Obama DID legitimately get every vote. Just like I can imagne some all white precincts in some places in rural Mississippi where Romney got every vote. Why would that be so hard to comprehend?

The truth is that there is a lot of smoke and mirrors and blind partisanship coming from both sides.

One side no smarter than the other.

Both sides corporate-owned .. as are their favorite news sources.

Corporatists and plutocrats are making astronomical money, laughing all the way to the bank, and reaping the benefits of aristocracy while the American people suffer.

No one is to blame for America's depressing condition but the American people themselves. Democrats and republicans are equally to blame .. and their constituents are sheeple. Neither side holds their elected officials responsible for anything .. not a damn thing.

Neither side.

It's all about 'winning.'

Globally, we're becoming a joke.

First off...I.don't watch MSNBC. It's just like FOX, except on the other end.of the spectrum.

And I find it amusing that innthe same post you say "actually no"....and then go on to preach about the "liberal diseased msm" so actually....you are saying yes.

You are the victim of a John Birch agenda pushing marketing campaign.

I rarely watch Fox, which is why I said no, If I do watch it I watch Greta.
