DOGE job cuts bring pain to Trump heartland

Roger Conley is a Trump supporter who left the Republican Party last year because he thought it was too liberal. In a Facebook post before Treasury Department's Bureau of Fiscal Service (BFS) workers were cut, Conley said DOGE was acting like any successful business in boosting efficiency and wondered why anyone would question its moves to lower costs.

Then his son lost his job at BFS, according to union members.

In a February 20 Facebook post, Conley said while he still backed Trump, he questioned the need to fire so many people so quickly and whether Musk was the right person to lead the effort.

When reached by phone, Conley declined to comment. His son did not respond to requests to be interviewed for this story.

Federal funding is far more important for party of trump areas of the country, than for the rest of us. If Musk was detail oriented, he could aim the cuts at the rest of us. Musk is not detail oriented, this is coming down on the trump voters hard.

The Uber-Maga state of West Virginia seems to heavily depend on government jobs and government social services.

I agree, it was comedy

Blanket firing of thousands of employees is simply wrong. Anyone trimming the workforce in an agency, should be familiar with the work it does, and have an education in the field. Musk is not qualified to make those judgments. Nor are his computer kids. Congress established the agencies and funded them. Musk should not be allowed to usurp congressional powers.

The government is 37 TRILLION in DEBT. We have to reduce costs or go BANKRUPT! Cutting expenses will be painful at times. Conley's kid will find another job somewhere.

That's mostly because of the Reagan tax cuts, the Bush tax cuts, and the invasion and occupation of Iraq. The people who insisted we implement those policies should pay the debt.

So what! Headline is mis/disinformation.

So? We are still in debt. It's time to cut expenses like X did. We don't need 25% of the employees that we have. We need to reduce the workforce. We can also reduce the wasteful spending. No DEI operas in Guatemala.

You hire them. We can't afford them.

The most dependent on the government is demanding we destroy it. The people who pay the most in taxes, want to keep it.

The alt right looks at their pathetic lives, and assume that if they can only destroy the government, their lives will be better. The reality is without the government, those that do well now will do less well, and those that do not do well now will do really badly.
