Heather Cox Richardson anybody ?

HCR is spectacular. None of her essays are short or uncomplicated, so American right wingers probably would not understand or enjoy her writing. And no pictures.

I read her work often...as one of the posters in another forum where I post...posts her essays.
Funny because it's true.

I'd never heard of her but found the Snopes link below. She's pretty sharp. What caught my eye is her postulation about "shock event"; do something shocking then, while the public is in shock, go for the main goal. It's an interesting strategy.

Professor Richardson postulated that backlash against President Trump's sudden action was planned cover for a separate subsequent act not yet apparent:

Such an event is unexpected and confusing and throws a society into chaos. People scramble to react to the event, usually along some fault line that those responsible for the event can widen by claiming that they alone know how to restore order. When opponents speak out, the authors of the shock event call them enemies. As society reels and tempers run high, those responsible for the shock event perform a sleight of hand to achieve their real goal, a goal they know to be hugely unpopular, but from which everyone has been distracted as they fight over the initial event. There is no longer concerted opposition to the real goal; opposition divides along the partisan lines established by the shock event.

They may be trying to provide cover for whatever they are going to do in the Senate to get that bill passed in some form. The bill sucks like a black hole. Getting it passed over the objections of different opposing factions is going to take some hard-ass shit.

Gonna be interesting.

Agreed on interesting. I'm curious how far it will go before the majority of Americans stand against them.

In a nation with more guns than people, I'm curious how long an authoritarian state can survive.

No doubt none of those who support an authoritarian state will survive once the blowback begins. LOL

Yes it is why immediately after the House passed the new budget bill that will crush America under debt and hit Magat States the hardest, he instantly came out with another big tariff announcement trying to get the discussions back to that. He knows there is danger of right magat backlash against that bill if it remains the focus just as those voters scared the crap out of Trump and his magats in the lead up to the 2018 mid terms over talk about 'cuts to Medicare'.

Complex question fallacy. LOL

Are you a dude? Somehow, that must change everything.
I was more interested in the source. The second was just a gratuitous insult tossed in. I looked Heather Cox Richardson up as an academic. She's a loon-and-a-half. Her 'work' is typical revisionist extreme radical Leftist nonsense with a good dose of fiction mixed in.
