Victoria Nuland’s son is part of a think tank working against President Trump’s efforts to end the Ukraine War.

Prior to Zelensky's DC visit, the group was drafting alternative "peace plans" to escalate the war and lobbying against the proposed mineral deal.

The Center for European Policy Analysis, where David Kagan serves as a Program Officer with the Democratic Resilience program, is also a recipient of several USAID grants.

Kagan contributed to CEPA's “7-point Plan for Sustainable Peace in Ukraine" which demands the US “provide immediate material support” to Ukraine, engage in “maximum pressure strategy” against Russia, and paves the way for US involvement in the conflict.

They want the war to continue.

THEY USED YOUR TAX DOLLARS (IF YOU PAY TAXES)

Just two days before the Trump-Zelensky meeting, CEPA was actively lobbying against the prospective mineral deal.

"Still very few people know about this." ~Elon Musk

In 2014, Senator Chris Murphy bragged about the United States successfully overthrowing Ukraine's government:

"I think it was our role, including sanctions and threats of sanctions, that forced Yanukovych from office."

"We have not sat on the sidelines. We have been very much involved. Members of the Senate have been there. Members of the State Department have been on the Square,

The Obama administration passed sanctions. The Senate was prepared to pass its own set of sanctions, and as I've said, I think that the clear position of the United States has, in part, been what has helped lead to this change in regime.

If, ultimately, this is a peaceful transition to a new government in Ukraine, it will be the U.S. on the streets of Ukraine who will be seen as a great friend in helping make that transition happen.

There is a U.S. interest here. We are in the middle of negotiating a new trade agreement with Europe. To my state, it's enormously important. We do 40% of our trade in Connecticut with Europe.

If Ukraine is part of the EU and thus is part of this new trade agreement with the United States, that could result in billions of dollars in new economic opportunities for the U.S.

So, we do have an economic interest in Ukraine being a part of the EU, and we shouldn't be shy about making that interest clear."

Trump turns off Ukraine’s missiles

Ukraine’s most powerful missiles were left frozen on Wednesday after the US cut off intelligence sharing and demanded fresh talks with Volodymyr Zelensky.

Kyiv was forced to agree to reopen negotiations with the White House, and Mr Zelensky said a new summit could begin next week, after he met European leaders on Thursday.

Zelensky said there had been “positive movement” with the United States despite the White House severing surveillance data used to hold off Russian attacks and strike targets behind enemy lines.

Crucial intelligence for long-range missiles such as Himars, which have been key to holding back the Russian offensive, went dark at about 2pm on Wednesday.

White House officials said the US would only lift the ban on sharing the data if they could “nail down negotiations”, with Ukraine, which are expected to cover the minerals deal that was put on ice after the clash in the Oval Office last Friday between Zelensky and Trump.

Diplomatic sources, however, suggested Zelensky may have to offer additional concessions to get talks back on track.

The Ukrainian president has suggested committing to ending the naval war in the Black Sea and freezing long-range strikes – two things put forward by Emmanuel Macron under his plans for a temporary truce that could build confidence between both sides.

On Wednesday evening, Macron addressed the French public ahead of travelling to the Brussels summit where leaders are due to sign off weapons packages and a major defense spending splurge to placate Trump.

A lot of people tell me that Ukraine is holding its own on the battlefield, pointing to the fact that lines have barely moved in months and that Russia has taken heavy losses.

This misunderstands Russian tactics.

Russia doesn't care that much about casualties.

They also don't care very much about tank losses. Tanks to the Russians are cheap, expendable assets and their Cold War life expectancy was measured in minutes.

They also don't care about territory as such.

Their immediate war objective is not to gain territory. It is to destroy the Ukrainian army.

This it can do gradually, over months, one tank at a time, knowing that Ukraine cannot replenish its manpower.

Eventually, the Ukrainian army will be forced to consolidate where they feel most vulnerable and that means weak spots all along the front that Russia can exploit.

Western media has played heavily on the idea that Russia is taking heavy casualties and is facing manpower problems of its own, but Russia can amass a large reserve of conscripts.

A third of these are said to be prisoners, but force mass has a quality of its own.

Waves of cannon fodder will eventually overwhelm Ukrainian lines.

Right now the Ukrainian army is in chaos. It is able to put together a few battalions but once they're engaged, there are no reserves.

Once the gun barrels wear out and the ammunition runs dry, all they can do is fall back or die.

Regardless of whether Ukraine is holding its own or not, what is not in dispute is that Ukraine simply doesn't have the means to retake lost territory.

There are only two choices. Seek a peace deal as soon as possible or exhaust the Ukrainian army to nothing, in which case, there is nothing to stop the Russian army, and nothing to defend Kiev.
