Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated on September 10, 2025, while hosting one of his "Prove Me Wrong" debates at Utah Valley University
. He was not debating with "assassin" in the general sense, but was in the process of debating a student about gun violence immediately before a single shot was fired from a distant rooftop.
Here's what is known about the event and the debate:
  • The student: The student who was debating Kirk just before the fatal shot was identified as Hunter Kozak, a 29-year-old philosophy and mathematics student.
  • The debate topic: Kozak was asking Kirk about mass shootings and the role of transgender individuals, a topic Kirk often addressed.
  • The assassination: A single shot, reportedly fired from the roof of the Losee Center for Student Success, struck Kirk during this exchange. He was rushed to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
  • The suspect: Authorities arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson on September 12 in connection with the assassination. A family member told investigators that Robinson had become more political recently and had expressed opposition to Kirk's views. Messages attributed to Robinson, including one with "hey fascist! CATCH!", were found engraved on unfired cartridges recovered near the scene.
  • No debate with suspect: There is no indication that the suspect, Tyler Robinson, was the one debating Kirk on stage. Kozak, the student who was debating Kirk, was not involved in the shooting.

It is so refreshing to see someone post actual facts in this thread. Thank you so much for being a responsible JPP member, seriously!

If you look at his posts on line he is a dedicated fan of Kirk, and Kirk’s Turning Point circulated the video, it’s a doctored clip
Since everything is about clicks, you see this a lot. Someone throws up a provocative headline to get their tribe to click, but the post or video itself usually turns out to be false or nowhere near what the headline claimed.

I have no idea... im just posting it for conversation.
I get it. It's just the reality of social media now. There are so many made-up tweets and videos like this. It’s natural for people to believe what’s posted, but the way things are today almost requires us to fact-check first for credibility.
