Holder Indicates Federal Raids on Marijuana Dispensaries Will Stop

Here is the video of Attorney General Eric Holder's press conference yesterday. At 25 minutes in, he is asked whether DOJ will continue raids on medical marijuana dispensaries (in states that have legalized medical marijuana.)

Holder says "what the president said during the campaign, you'll be surprised to know, will be consistent with what we'll be doing here in law enforcement." He says Obama is "formally and technically and by law my boss now, and so what he said during campaign is now American policy." [More...]

Holder said this standing right next to DEA Acting Administrator Michelle Leonhart, who has overseen the most recent federal medical marijuana raids, including those that took place after Obama's inauguration.
 
just take a look at the backlash against Phelps if you wanted a pulse on state of pot in this country.

I have come to conclusion that its still viewed as an evil.
 
well over 60% are for leagalization.
It's still stigmatized in politics because of all the wussy politicians.
Every ballot Medical MJ get on it passes.
Holders move is a giagantic leap forward.
 
even if they just decriminalize, think of what 800,000 young black men on the street in good new green jobs vs in jail branded as criminals for something less harmful than cigarettes or beer will do for the economy and the national enthusiasm level.

i see that everybody is under the mistaken impression that the DoJ is no longer going to be enforcing CSA laws. This is wrong. All that he said was they will no longer raid medical dispensaries for it. he said nothing about continuing to prosecute street dealers or home growers.

there are approx 300,000 in Cali with medical cards. Now that theres not ghestapo threat expect that number to at least quadruple. There are many dispeneries/clubs that take in a million a month. Cali will get out of their budget crisis on the wallets of the stoners.
