On April 16th, 10 pro-democracy leaders in Hong Kong were sentenced to maximum of 18 months for organizing and participating in 2019 protests against the extradition bill. Meanwhile Beijing approved major changes to Hong Kong’s electoral system, effectively establishing near-total control in choosing Hong Kong’s leaders.
