Carly Fiorina is going to pay for this.
For those who don't know, Tom Campbell dropped out of the gubernatorial race and opted to run for the nomination for U.S. Senate.
I'm not claiming an endorsement here, because I initially expected to be voting for Chuck DeVore over Carly Fiorina, but I did want to bring this up because Tom Campbell is a perfectly viable candidate, and this attack against him indicates that the Fiorina campaign even thinks he might be their primary opposition.
I think while some of the content is an effective attack against Tom Campbell's record, the problem is that the Campbell plan is very specific and over the long term does offer fiscal conservative solutions for the state budget crisis.
As well, even though Campbell has been in politics for a long time, he is not solely a career politician, and is a professor of economics at Stanford and Chapman University. Part of the reason he dropped out of the Governor's race is because he can't keep up with the self-financed campaigns of his billionaire opponents and has a professor's salary.
I'm watching the race closely to see if DeVore or Campbell has a better shot at the nomination. I don't want their vote to be split to allow someone without a record to win...and someone who would rely on an ad like this instead of substantial discussion on the issues.
