House GOP leaders lack insight into Jan. 6 committee’s inner workings

One by one, Republicans eviscerated the work of the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, each one bemoaning the fact that the chief congressional security officials had not been subpoenaed to examine that day’s security lapses.

Finally, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) shut down that line of debate on Wednesday with some information these Republicans did not seem to know. “We have in fact interviewed precisely the people they set up as a test for the validity of our investigation,” Raskin said.

Those top security officials “didn’t need a subpoena” to testify about that horrible day’s events, Raskin said. “They came voluntarily.”

In hindsight, McCarthy’s biggest mistake might have been backing away from creating an independent commission to investigate the Capitol attack along the lines of the 9/11 commission.

As originally conceived, the 10-member panel of nongovernment officials would have been evenly divided with five appointments each coming from Democratic and Republican congressional leaders. Subpoenas would have required bipartisan support, and the panel would have had until Dec. 31, 2021, to finish its work.

His biggest mistake was throwing in with the orange crook. He took orders from Trump and is paying.
 
No, the Democrat's mistake was fixating on Jan 6. They compounded this in an unprecedented move of stacking the inquisition that calls itself the Jan 6 committee with two Republicans they chose rather than follow long established House rules and procedures and let the Republicans choose their representatives on that committee.

In doing the above they've demolished any credibility this committee might otherwise have had. Topping that off, the committee hasn't found a goddamned thing other than the occasional innuendo and rumor that they've promptly leaked as some world shattering news only to find it ignored by the public for the crap it is.

Given the way things are going, this committee ends with regime change in November. The Joke administration better start getting their ducks in a row over Bagman's computer, the Southern Border, and all the other fuck ups they've done in the past year.

Rightys and the red establishment are terrified of the 1-6 committee. They should be.Trump and his stormtroopers tried to overthrow the government. Many have been tossed in jail. Many more will be. The real leaders will face the music and they will not like the tunes. Trump will have plenty to explain for. Why Trump? Fuck him he is a crook and a danger to the country.

Why should they be? This committee is staffed with the same idiots, retards, and incompetents that couldn't get Trump impeached, twice. It's the same morons and talking heads that can't even figure out what day of the week it is. I'd say anyone facing this bunch or cretins should be laughing at them.

So far, this real-life Kafkaesque trial by committee hasn't produced a single useful or significant factual finding. I don't expect them to suddenly shift course and do so either.
