House likely to vote today on Jim Jordan for speaker

The House is expected to vote Tuesday afternoon on whether to make Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) its next speaker. Jordan, a conservative firebrand who is allied with former president Donald Trump, was chosen by fellow Republicans on Friday to lead the House but must win a majority in the full chamber to take the gavel. Jordan, the Judiciary Committee chairman, has mounted an aggressive pressure campaign to gain the support of more than 50 Republican holdouts skeptical of his ability to lead. Jordan can only afford to lose four votes on the floor.

Jim Jordan as Speaker will not move this country forward.

It's a vote for the past, and for MAGA staying as far down the rabbit hole as you can go.

Pelosi was a strong leader. You just don't agree w/ her politics.

Jordan is a sycophant, and puppet for Trump. He's also an election denier. He'd be terrible for the country.

I don't care about the Speaker's politics. If Republicans want to elect the most hardcore conservative out there, I have no problem w/ that - it's their choice. But they don't really care about conservative principles anymore.

They need to move on from MAGA. Jordan will keep them mired in that place of election denial & grievance.

Maybe not now, but he will eventually, any entity MaraLago can use is putting immense pressure on the GOP holdouts to cave, they even got AM radio and Hannity directly intimidating any resistance, eventually, due to frustration, they will vote for Jimmy

That’s alright, no GOP moderate could ever win the seat, nor will any GOP representative work with the Democrats for a compromise, so if it weren’t little Jimmy it would have been another

And Democrats are now surely going to connect every GOP representative to Jordan/Maralago in 2024, especially after little Jimmy shuts down the Government and impeaches Biden on hearsay

The memo goes on to highlight what it calls examples of Jordan's "extremism" that it will use to hammer away at vulnerable Republicans, including his efforts to illegally keep former President Donald Trump in power after he lost the 2020 election, his scorched-earth opposition tactics that have led to multiple government shutdowns, and his support for a nationwide abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest.

For good measure, the memo also mentions the scandal surrounding Jordan's tenure as a wrestling coach at Ohio State University, where he "was allegedly complicit in a sexual assault coverup.

I wouldn’t say joyous, it does do damage to the country, especially now with current world events as they are, but guarantee any hopeful Democrat candidate in swing districts ain’t disappointed if little Jimmy ascend, especially given the results of 2022

I certainly won't. We will have a traitor to the country, one who may be indicted for his role on 1/6, second in line for POTUS. And if Jordan wins, there will be a very long government shutdown and no Ukraine funding. I am not eager for any of those things.

She will go down as one of the strongest and most effective Speakers in Congressional history, you may not like her politics, but she was damn good at her job, you never saw the clusterf*ck or incompetence you are seeing now under her leadership

You MAGA don’t her cause she bested Trump, repeatedly
