How Do You Feel About Actors Voicing Their Opinions?

Agnosticus_Caesar

Fuck You Too
Quite often in the last decade or so, I have heard those on the right complain about "Hollywood" voicing political opinions. I would wonder why this was if it weren't so obvious. Much of Hollywood falls into the "progressive" camp.

My question is; "How do you feel about actors voicing their political opinions, and WHY?"

I couldn't care any less and feel their opinions have less import than most of the people that I "talk" to on this site.

Let them talk. Most of the time I don't even know who they are.

You have to admit that there has been much griping by right-wingers about "Hollywood".

Funny, I never hear them complaining about Ben Stein, or when "John Wayne" did it, day in, day out.

I've don't have a problem with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Fred Thompson, or Charles Heston expressing a political view.

I have a problem with people with no understanding or background in politics attempting to sway popular opinion. Sites like this are fine because we are not important enough to actual have an impact on the election, whereas loonies like Tom Cruise actually have a following that eats up their every word.

Dialysis, are you fucking retarded? Stop menstrating and acting like a baby all the time. Grow some nads and learn to take critiscism where you deserve it. Mothafucka.

Jeez I was reading some interesting comments and then came across the latest Waterbaby outburst.

Now, back to the thread.

Having had the benefit of reading some interesting responses, perhaps the current right wing moaning about actors' commenting is coming from people who are pissy because left wing actors like Sean Penn, Tim Tobbins, Susan Sarandon et al. actually know what they're talking about and can do more than mouth memorised slogans provided by right wing think tanks. I'm sure they can also tell us about Stanislavski and Strasberg, but those folks can also tell us about foreign policy and, while they might be howled down by Rush and the Dittoheads, people who are well regarded in the field may give them a sage nod.

OMGZ OMGZ

:igive:

I don't really care about what actors say and I find their ignorant anecdotes and idiotic oversimplifications of complicated subjects amusing. About their voicing their opinion, however, no, don't really care.

Waddabout Arnie?

"I'll be back!" "Hasta la vista, baby"

Hah, more like hasta la visa for entry at LAX.

Damn, where are those purple pills I was supposed to take....

I think we were all kind of surprised whenever he actually won. His entire campaign was sort of a joke, because all he'd use was catchphrases from his movies. It worked, though... sigh...

Minnesota actually elected a former professional wrestler. Although I kind of liked his political views, like making the legislature unicameral and elected by proportional representation, the office of governer was, well, a bit over his head.

I'm surprised Arnie seems to be handling it okay.

The Minnesota governor, can't think of his name, big bloke, bald, moustache, his bloody name will come to me later. L'esprit de l'escalier - oops that one slid up out of the ooze that's my subconcious.

I have relatives in Edina, Minn. They're all good Democrats.

Other than them having a unfair advantage (their fame) to spread their "dumb as a second coat of paint" propaganda---no problems at all. I guess it is the stupid people that believe them, that is the problem. It is a sick cycle. We watch them on TV, and we remain stupid enough to believe their misguided propaganda. Home schooling never ends, or may be never started if Hollywood is a big influence on your thoughts.
