How many Friedmans?

First, for definitional purposes:

A "Friedman" is a unit of time measurement, based on NY Times pundit Thomas Friedmans habit for the last four years of stating that we should give iraq "six more months" before we declare the whole exercise a failure.

i.e., 1 Friedman = 6 months.

How many Friedman's are you willing to give the "surge", or more accurately, Bush's War in general, before you are willing to say that the military option won't work - that we need to redeploy.

Personally, I think we've run out of Friedmans. We need to redeploy now. The "surge" is just a gimmick.

Personally, I think Bush will never admit the surge won't work. Rove will dig up some statistics, showing sectarian killings are down in "some" Baghdad neighborhoods, thus the surge is working! And that Bush will support as many Friedman's as possible, until the next president takes over his problem.

Defintely. They're kicking the ball down the field, and we're not getting out of Iraq until after bush is out of office, and another President takes us out, at which point, the right wing machine will kick in with faux experts and paid for historians (the W library fund is huge, and that's what it's going to pay for) who will write books and papers "proving" that if we had followed bush's "plan" (no one will notice there is no plan), we would have "won" in Iraq.

Oh yes, great point.

It will be the vietnam revisionist history all over again. If only we could have fought for six more months, the North Vietnamese would have capitulated.

Right! And 20 years from now, some idiot on the right will be babbling about "general giap's book", or whomever the Iraqi version of him will be, on some message board.
