How much is trump's terrorist attack costing taxpayers?

Walt

Back To Reality
If someone burns down your house, can they say it cost you nothing, because they paid for the matches and gasoline? Of course not. The cost is in the destruction of the house, and also the stuff inside the house.

trump's terrorist attack destroyed a third of the White House. There was not enough warning to get stuff out, so the American taxpayer also lose the stuff inside the East Wing that belonged to them. trump is blocking any accurate estimate, but that all appears to be about a billion dollars.

But if that terrorist who burned down your house offered to build you a new house, to his liking, that would make up for it right?

The lack of warning allowing stuff inside the house to be destroyed would be a problem. But even beyond that, someone else does not have the right to steal from you, and then decide what you get to own afterwards.

I keep coming back to the question, why did it have to happen so fast? Why not remove everything from the building first? Why not run the demolition past the relevant oversight? Why not do a controlled archaeological dig on the demolition? Why not take samples of the fixture?

trump does not even have a realistic design for his replacement plan. The current design has stairways going nowhere, and misaligned windows. It is something thrown together quickly to excuse the terrorist attack.

Despite the support of JPP MAGAt traitors and wannabe terrorists, Trump is taking a big hit from the American public over his lies about the WH demolition. He's already in a hole about his NG deployments, shafting Blue states on disaster relief and the cutting of SNAP benefits. It might be a bridge too far when he orders his secret police to murder Americans like he's ordered the military to murder boaters on the high seas.

Well, it turns out most Americans see plenty to dislike about Trump's handling of the East Wing and the ballroom.

In fact, it appears to be one of the more unpopular things he's done in this second term. And it's not just those who dislike Trump that are objecting.

New Yahoo News-YouGov and Washington Post-ABC News polls are the first quality surveys to dig into the ballroom saga in depth. And both show similar things.

The former shows Americans disapproved of Trump's demolition of the East Wing (57%-26%), his plans for replacing it with a 90,000-square foot ballroom (61%-25%) and his broader handling of the situation (55%-28%) all by around a 2-to-1 margin.

The latter shows Americans also oppose the broader project by a 2-to-1 margin, 56%-28%.

Even Trump's supporters aren't defending him too hard.

For instance, just 55% of Republicans in the Yahoo poll approved of both demolishing the East Wing and building a ballroom. That's compared to 94% of Democrats who disapproved of both. Around one-quarter of Republicans disapproved on both counts.

Indeed, the passion on this issue seems to be very much on the "anti" side.

In both polls, the percentage strongly opposed to the project far outpaced the percentage strongly in favor – 46%-18% in the Yahoo poll and 45%-15% in the Post-ABC poll. In both surveys, about half of independents strongly opposed it.

It was our building that trump destroyed.
Agreed. He's going to paint it gold and name it after himself just like he wants to do with the Kennedy Center.

Trump has faced fierce backlash from critics after tearing down the East Wing of the White House for his $300 million, 90,000-square-foot ballroom, despite previously pledging to not “interfere” with the historic building’s existing structure. The White House has maintained that Trump and individual donors, including companies such as Amazon, Apple and Google, are funding the construction.

In a post on his Truth Social platform early Monday, Trump pointed to upcoming renovations at the Kennedy Center, including its exterior columns, painted in white, which replaced what he described as “the fake looking gold paint that was there for years.”

“Many major improvements are being made, including seating, carpeting, wall coverings, ceilings, chandeliers, stages, heating and A/C, etc., to what will soon be the finest Arts and Entertainment Center anywhere in the World,” Trump wrote, calling the prominent hub the “new TRUMP KENNEDY, whoops, I mean, KENNEDY CENTER.”

Trump also said the center will remain fully open during construction.

“I am doing the same thing to the United States of America, but only on a ‘slightly’ larger scale!” he added in the post.

This is just bizarre.

Trump's wife won't live with him, he doesn't give a rat's ass about the traditional offices of the first lady and her staff.

This is just bizarre.
To say the least. What's even more bizarre is that the MAGAt Congress, specifically the House, is letting him do as he pleases.

As a child, I took a tour of the White House, entering through the East Wing that trump tour down. It would have been the early 1980's, or maybe the late 1970's.

The East Wing was always the people's access point. By destroying that, he takes away the people's access to the White House.
So it's Been a very long time... The next time you go back it will be different and it will still be your house if you believed it to be your house years ago... It will just be different... The White House will still have tours....Don't you worry...

Wally, are you one of the alt lefties who would prefer we have tent dinners for special events, or make them comfortable in an elegant setting? Had the potato suggested this, I suspect you would have been all in.
Methinks you are just pissed because you lost everything betting that Trump would destroy the economy during his first nine months in office.
You alt lefties hate America.

When do you think trump will get a plan to build a new East Wing? Why tear down the current East Wing without any plan to replace it?

I see that you did not answer Lf’s questions, Wrong Way Walter.

Why is that, WWW?

Dems are melting down over a beautiful new ballroom that cost the taxpayers not one cent.

You'll be okay... When was the last time you were in your building?
You have no point. It was the people's house and Trump ,as usual, did what he wanted. He will rename it Mira Lago North. We have agencies that are charged with keeping historical buildings intact or if altered, the changes are to be in the mode of other historical buildings. A big gold ballroom will look way out of place.
You do not care. If he keeps all his club championship plaques on the walls, ypou will approve.
