Watching the results come in from the Democrat & Republican primary elections I can’t help but think about our duopoly political system, or should I say our “rigged” duopoly political system. Our rigged two party system. The system that has two major political parties that hold a strangle lock on the governing of the nation, no others need apply. Not only do the two duopoly parties have control over their particular media outlets, they thereby control the national debate, they control every state’s ballot access law and every dime of special interest money available for campaign contributions because they, the two of them, control the nation’s political power, i.e., the government.
Some of the worst of it all is the fact that there’s no uniform regulations governing states primary elections. That would be fine since they’re two independent private political parties. What makes it not so fine is their control over state government is to the point that they just up and use taxpayer’s utilities, facilities, voting machinery and have the state and localities print up their ballots for them. Then to boot in many if not most states a taxpayer must actually be a member of one of the particular parties to be eligible to vote in their “private” party primary elections, and they can only vote in that particular party primary. Taxpaying folks not registered as a member of one of those duopoly parties can’t vote in either primary.
I think any and every political party that uses taxpayer’s utilities, facilities, voting machinery and ballots printed with taxpayer’s money should have to allow every taxpaying citizen vote in their “private” party primary election because they’re not actually “private,” they’re supported by the taxpayer’s government extorted money. And every taxpaying citizen has the right to vote in every and any election. If the duopoly want’s to keep their primary elections a private party affair, let the crooked bleepers finance their own show, use their own utilities, facilities and buy their own machinery and print their own ballots.
I get pissed every time I think about the duopoly using my tax dollars to support and promote their own private swindle without my permission and then to boot have the gonads to deny me to vote in their private party. I’d vote a write in because the party hacks are crooks.
