Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), a former Army lieutenant colonel, sends THE WEEKLY STANDARD an email commenting on the Marines' video, and has given us permission to publish it.

“I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.

“All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?

“The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.

“As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.”
 
Funny nobody gives a shit about us killing thousands of afghanies for no good reason. Then as soon as you piss on them the faux outrage kicks in!
 
I will say that I belive our troops should be held to a better/higher standard than the Taliban fighters and Iraui trooops who abused the bodies of American troops and blackwater agents.

Ok Before I begin attacking his statement I would like to throw something out there, I currently have 3 friends in the military(one marines 2 army) and several more on their way(both to be comissioned and non-commissioned) I support the troops fully, and wish their were back here so I could support them by buying a drink rather than just having to hope they don't die.

Now, First of all, You are in other people's countries, did you expect them to be happy about it? You are an occupying army, and they want you out, you killed civilians, tore down their government and pretty much treated them as your own little sandbox. Why are you surprised when they hate on you? We're supposed to be the enlightened ones here, the people who are above this level of shit, you know a professional army with standards that do not include pissing on dead people who probably considered themselves patriots. The outrage is because we were supposed to be protecting freedom, not violating corpses of the fallen in a country that doesn't want us there.

As to the attacks on complaints, that's pure crap. I don't have to work construction to criticize a crap building, I don't have to be a cop to complain about shooting an unarmed man, I don't have to be a senator to criticize the backrubbing that happens on the beltway. If War is so much hell, how bout we stop doing it and bring the troops home instead of sending them into more countries.

You guys are supposed to be the Corp, how about you act like it instead of a third world militia with guns.

Bullshit. Where was this guy hiding? Under a rock? There was all sorts of media outrage and condemnation over the black hawk down and blackwater contractors attrocites and it was all over the media for days on end. West is totally full of shit.

I'm sorry but I have no problem with our Marines pissing on a dead enemy combatant who was trying to kill them. Fuck the little cocksucker he's to dead to care anyways.

Al West is a dope about there not being media outrage about the atrocities committed on our soldiers.

He's right about war being hell. If the Taliban don't want our Marines pissing on their dead soldiers they should have thought about that before they gave aid and comfort to those assholes who flew those planes into the Twin Towers and The Pentagon. They can piss on all those Taliban sonsabitches for alls I care and if they don't want to get killed and pissed on then there's an easy fix. They can surrender and lay down their arms.
