Very much agree and it pains me to see people on the right backing it knowing they do so simply because Trump is doing it. (And I know the arguments, 'Congress isn't acting so he has to do something...' Pardon my french but bullsh*t. That's the same thing Obama said and everyone else in the future will use to justify it.)

This is the problem in politics, we allow things to happen that we generally wouldn't support in the name of short-term political opportunism and we pay a long-term price for it.

Governors and the state legislatures actually have extraordinary powers when looked at within the prism of the federal Constitution. Certainly, their own constitutions may place limitations on their actions, but, the founders wanted governors and mayors to act with authority over the people, rather than the president, during a crisis.

Only under extreme terms of needing to take responsibility do I like its employment. My governor's executive order for masks protects our states residents from the ravages of tourists that swarm and don't give two shits. It was too late coming though in many accounts. I hate wearing a mask but I do, and I have extreme tactile sensitivities. Can't even stand to wear socks.
