The average kid in school has a tough time learning in class because they can't sit still or think straight. Many proffesors and doctors think its because of video games and/or ADHD. I honestly think that it's overly-prescribed.
Why can't we just bring concentration to our schools like the Germans did it?
#MAKE AMERICA'S EDUCATION SYSTEM BETTER
Well...there's a problem in America. It's called "instant gratification".
Our kids have access to way too much social interaction. Facebook, Twitter, etc... Hell, even media such as music and video....all easily accessible all free(minus the charge for Internet Access)....and yes, video games too.
All of that stimuli gets in the way of real learning. Stuff that they teach in the classroom is fucking BORING compared to the stuff they can find with a few mouse clicks. When you're young and dumb...the things that garner the most appeal is the stuff that helps you the least in the long term and the most interesting and gratifying in the moment.
By German concentration...you don't mean "camps" do you?
No, the way to engage children is not to "FORCE FEED" them, but to make learning a part of their everyday lives....naturally. Part of the issue is the whole "two income" system we have in place. It used to be that one decent income could take care of an average family in a decent manner, which left the other parent with the time and energy to maintain the home and be a huge help with the kids.
We don't have that anymore...we have both parents working full time or more trying to make ends meet and a bunch of kids left pretty Much to their own devices.....oh sure...parents try to intervene...but for the most part, there's no one to enforce it anyway....or if they try...it's a half assed attempt because they are so burned out when they walk through the door.
