The ex-Navy SEAL that Gov. Chris Christie called an “idiot” last week has apologized for his behavior at the town hall meeting, saying he didn’t mean any disrespect to the New Jersey governor.

“I’m not too thrilled about being known as an idiot, or being known as a jerk. That’s not what I want to be known for. I don’t want to be known as that guy,” 34-year-old William Brown told a local New York Fox affiliate. “I apologize if I came across disrespectful to the governor.”

Brown, a second-year law student at Rutgers-Camden who previously made an unsuccessful run in the state assembly as a Democrat, had ticked off Christie at a March 8 town hall meeting by repeatedly interrupting the governor with comments about the proposed merger of Rutgers-Camden and Rowan University.

The governor had fired back, “After you graduate from law school [and] you conduct yourself like that in a courtroom, your rear end is going to get thrown in jail, you idiot.”

Christie later said he had no regrets about calling Brown an idiot, saying the student’s past military service “doesn’t give him the right to be a jerk.”

Apparently fighting to keep our country free doesn't mean you are free to speak your mind to an elected official.

However, all that's needed to give the person the right to be a jerk is to be a bloated, fatass gasbag Governor from New Jersey.

Whether one is a Governor or one is in the military there are certain courtesy's people should show each other when speaking. The only video I saw was at the end as the guy was leaving. I didn't see the video of him asking questions and then interupting as Christie was attempting to answer. If that's how it went down then it's probably not a surprise he got responded to the way he did though Christie does carry that very arrogant in your face New Jersey attitude which is part of why the state gets ripped on so much.

I've seen your pic. I don't think you should be calling anyone a "bloated, fatass gasbag".

It must kill you to see a democrat make a public apology to a Republican, for being a rude inconsiderate jerk.

Yeah, Christie has established himself as abbrasive, so when he calls someone else out on it, I expect a lot of people will roll their eyes at him...

Speaking your mind does not equal interupting the man trying to answer your question and being a jerk when told to sit down, this guy is supposed to be a law student, judges down put up with that crap, thy'll toss you out of the court room, not just hurt your feelings. His service is totally irrelevant to the situation, he was being a jerk and got shot down for it. Well done on his part though for apologizing.

I respect the dude for recognizing that his actions were less than exemplary. The Governor is right, if he acted that way in court he'd be in jail.

See, the thing is...this didn't happen in court.

You all keep making this ridiculous comparison...the situations are NOTHING alike.

One is a court of law and the other was a PUBLIC FORUM.

Everyone knows how the TEA party loved to shout down speakers at town hall meetings all across this nation, and not a not a one of you "lovers of civility" said a word about it.

Now suddenly you expect reverential silence during these meetings.

Of course it didn't happen in a court, thats why the left wing ass ISN'T in jail.....

If happened in a public forum and he was labeled an idiot and recognized he was an idiot, admitted it, and apologized for it....

and you can spin and lie about the situation all you want, it ain't gonna change the facts....
