IF McCain wins... Is it blow to the TeaParty?

If Senator John McCain, targeted by the Tea Party that is particularly strong IN AZ, wins his primary... what does that say about the Tea Party?

I think it says that McCain is more popular in AZ than the teaparty candidate is. I really don't read a lot into it as McCain was his party's presidential nomination recently. There are going to be states where the tea party does well and states where they do not. The [illegal] immigration thing might hurt McCain a bit but he is still quite popular.

What do you mean if? Isn't dude up by like 45 points?

I don't know Jarod why don't you tell us what you think it means? Those running that the Tea Party supported have done very well in other primaries. To me the real judge will do they win a seat or not but since we are not there yet we can only discuss the primaries.

So one person the tea party supported has lost while many have won. Does that mean the tea party is worthless to you Jarod?

It will be interesting to me to see what kind of legs the Tea Party has.

If they defeat McCain, I'll be impressed.
I kinda hope they are successfull with some of the wacko canidates today, because it will make things easier for the LIberal canidates in November, and they are going to need all the help they can get.

Agree. In IL the tea party is not on the map, true blue state. AZ via McCain is a bit different. Red State, but also have sent McCain back over and over again. He's certainly not 'conservative' on many issues. He responded though to the illegal immigration issue, which is what was dragging him down. My guess is the tea party will consider it a victory to have done that and made him really run a campaign.

I agree with the first part...A defeat of McCain will truly be impressive though unlikely. Contrarily, I do not wish to make things easy for any Liberal candidate. It shall be interesting.

Defeating McCain in AZ would certainly be a huge victory for the TP, but not defeating McCain is no big surprise, he is very popular, has outspent his opponent by millions of dollars... and oh yeah, turned back into a died-in-the-wool conservative! Whether he remains true to his new found conservatism, we'll have to wait and see, but for now, McCain is sounding more conservative than he ever has in his career. That's a direct result of the TP, and nothing else. This movement is about more than one or two seats, or even winning elections, it's about reform in the party, bringing the GOP back to conservatism where it belongs. They seem to have been victorious in that, in AZ.

Well this makes the third major teaparty candidate that succeeded in shooting themselves in the foot. LOL

So you believe Hayworth (or whatever his name is) would have had a better chance at beating John McCain in the primary if he didn't have tea party support?

another jarod FAIL

mccain flip flopped on numerous issues and is basically taking a tea party stance...just one example is the immigration issue, total 180 from a couple of years ago when he LOST....

he is a political whore

I never made that claim, just sayin...Liar!

This is what I meant by torpedoing your own thread. If you wanted to argue with Dixie start yet another thread and continuing arguing. Otherwise discuss the issue you stated in the opening post.

This is what we get when we don't have term limits. The guy's older than dirt, farts dust, but he's on powerful committees and shit, and the voters don't want to give that up. Harry Fucking Reid may get re-elected for the same reason.
