One of two major political parties in America is engaging in scorched-earth economic policies that are undercutting the economic recovery, possibly on purpose, and is forcing job-killing austerity measures on the states.

And they have paid absolutely no political price for doing so.

If anything, it won them control of the House in 2010, and has kept win Obama's approval ratings in the political danger zone.

It might even help them get control of the White House.

I don't really agree that profits=jobs. I think effeciency in production, demand for a product or service and a reasonable price point for that product or service has more to do with job creation. Think of the system as a triangle. The 3 sides are efficency, demand and reasonable price. Take away one of those things and you don't have a triangle anymore. If the object of the game is to always have a triangle, you have to constantly juggle all 3 elements to sustain profitability. What we're seeing now is business adjusting the efficency side. Demand is down, prices are about as high as they can go. What can you do? Fire a bunch of people and live to compete another day. I've heard that American business is basically sitting on trillions of dollars that are out of the economy. Why? Because that is their ammunition against the Obama siege. Why should they expand or hire when everything this regime throws at them is going to eat into profits and raise prices?

just how do you think that increased demand will occur

our economy is consumer driven and people are afraid to spend money because they may lose their jobs

without money being spent demand drops and people lose jobs

it is like a circular firing squad with the net effect of businesses going out of business

just how is this all obama's fault by the way

First of all, there are a couple of things we need to get you straightened out on. People are certainly not afraid to spend money because they may lose their jobs. I don't know of anyone who has ever been fired from their job for spending their own money. People may lose their jobs, so they are afraid to spend money.

The next thing is; demand doesn't drop because money isn't spent. Money isn't spend, therefore there is less demand. People do lose jobs because demand drops. But this demand thing, goes back to what we said in the previous point, people may lose their jobs, so they are afraid to spend money. Finally, you asked how is this Obama's fault? Well...

That comes about as a result of him being elected president. You see, in this country, we elect a president who has certain skill sets and ideas, because we intend to hold them accountable. If we didn't hold presidents accountable and nothing was ever their fault, we wouldn't need to elect them as we do, we could just do an online poll of the most popular celebrity, and appoint them president for life. So, since we elected Barack Obama, and he ran on the promise of his "Hope and Change" idea, turning the economy around and bringing us out of a recession, and since that did not work, and instead, failed on ice... then we have to hold Obama accountable for his idea failing.

Back to the problem of people worrying they may lose their jobs... Seems like Obama might do something to reassure people they wouldn't lose jobs, like maybe he could do something to help small businesses, or even big corporations? Maybe he could get his Atty. General to stop relentlessly suing capitalists and his Democrat Congress to stop hauling them before hearings? Maybe Obama could get the left to shut up with the War on the Rich bullshit, for at least a few years, until we can dig out of the hole? The way I see it, there is a helluva lot Obama COULD be doing, that he's not. And why should he? With brilliants minds such as yours, ready to give him a pass on everything?

Link?

Where are those links?

So profits don't equal jobs?

Why do you ask me for links to an explanation?

The link is at the top of the page! What the fuck is wrong with you people, do you need to read an opinion from some left-wing moron, to acknowledge it? Don said that people are afraid of losing their jobs, so they aren't spending money... I corrected him... They are afraid of spending money because they might lose their jobs. Sorry, but your left-wing propaganda sites aren't busting at the seams with op-eds pointing that out, or I'd post you a link to it.

I don't know why you insist on clinging to left-wing idiots for answers here, when it's obvious you people are clueless about jobs or why they are created. And NO, profits do NOT "equal" jobs. In fact, NOTHING in of itself, "equals" jobs, if it did, the solution to creating jobs would be elementary simple. The fact of the matter is, a LOT OF THINGS factor into what equates to jobs. Because of Obama policies and the Left, what we are certain DOESN'T equate to jobs, is promising to tax "the rich" and occupying Wall Street... Those things have not equaled jobs.
