Why is the party of Lincoln the one flying the confederate flag? Because parties change, and it’s no longer the party of Lincoln. (Just so we’re clear, Lincoln and the confederacy were on opposite sides.)

And it’s not just today in Lansing. This has been going on for a while now. If anything, it sharpened and accelerated in 2016, as Trump supporters raised the confederate flag high.

The Republican party has become the party of the confederate flag. The truth is this: the party of Lincoln is no more.

Good point. In Lincoln's time, ideology was divided along the Mason Dixon line regardless of party. Lincoln himself would identify as a social liberal today.
 
The party of Lincoln has been gone for a very long time. The new Retrumplican party will soon join the ranks of the Tea Party and other Right Wing parties that have all but disappeared.
 
It shows they are bigots. That is something they are proud of. That flag says you can still show hatred in public and signal it to like-minded others. Plenty on this board are happy when it is done.

Lincoln started a war against the Confederacy. Trumpcucks claim to be the party of Lincoln while waving the flag of the Confederacy.
And yeah, I know a lot of Southerners don't see that flag as being the flag of the Confederacy anymore, they just see it as the flag of the South. But the people waving it in those pictures aren't even from the South or fighting for Southern rights. So what are they even doing? I'm guessing they have no idea what the Confederate flag even means.
