If we give Czechoslovakia to Germany, it will end the threat.....

Well, until trump, the American president and all our allies agreed that Ukraine and it's sovereignty IS worth defending.

Sorry, man... you know the saying.. "first they came for the Ukrainians and I did nothing..."....

Don't be a Henry Ford or Charles Lindbergh.
Agent Krasnov is the best asset Putin has ever had.

I have heard lots of chatter recently about how the story we have been told since WW2 that it was all the Germans fault is wrong, that behind the scenes the Brits were driving conflict as a way to attempt to rebuild and save the British Empire.......there is a major new book out on this.

Yep, all fascinating shit. In the meantime, we don't subscribe to the trumptard, "might makes right" rule of taking territory. When other democracies in the world are under attack, we help them.
As many throughout history have pointed out, one needs to choose their battles carefully and decide what is and isn't worth fighting for. Are the territorial gains of Russia in this worth fighting over? Would a peace with concessions be the end of the fighting between Russia and Ukraine? These are questions that need answers and the answers might be, give up some land that doesn't mean much and have a lasting peace.

Yep. Isolationism doesn't work. Period. The fallacy of you "America-Firsters" is that you think all trouble will stop at our borders.

Reagan knew you were wrong which is why he funded the Contras and tried to trade arms for our Americans held hostage in Iran. The presidents who presided over the two world wars we won knew it.

All your doing is mirroring whatever whim comes over the MAGA base.

We're engaged in world politics. That doesn't mean we have to be engaged in every little regional war that occurs.

The Contras are our backyard, not halfway around the world.

Agree to disagree about the distance away where fellow democracies are under attack. By the way, trump wants to send rockets into Mexico.

They won them in battle.
Actually, Putin lost the right bank of the Dnieper River, including the City of Kherson. Putin has been unable to successfully cross the Dnieper River again. If he did, he would run into heavy fortifications.

What Putin is demanding is we force Ukraine to hand over those heavily fortified lands, and steal it from the millions of Ukrainians that live there. In return, Putin will give a short term promise not to invade Ukraine. A promise he has broken repeatedly in the past.

In this way it is very similar to the Munich Betrayal. Czechoslovakia gave up the heavily fortified Sudetenland on the promise that Hitler would take no more. Hitler quickly broke that promise.

Do you want to go to Ukraine and take them back.
Ukraine already took them back. Why would we want to give Putin in a peace agreement that which he could not take in war?

Leftist governments in both France (especially) and Britain during the 30's had ignored their militaries for the most part and were rushing in the late 30's to try and catch up with Germany.
That is just objectively false.

From 1935 to 1945, Baldwin, Chamberlain, and Churchill were Prime Minister. All were in the same political party, literally called the Conservative Party. It was right wing.

From 1932 until the fall of France, Lebrun of the Democratic-Republican Alliance was President of France. That was a fairly right wing party too.

Maybe you should actually read up on them.

From 1932 until the beginning of 1939 Chamberlain:

Import duties Act (1932) slapping a 10% tariff on everything imported into England (mostly to help pay WW 1 debt)
Passed the Unemployment Act (1934)
Slashed defense spending by over 50%
Coal Act (1938) nationalizing the coal industry
Passed the Holiday with Pay act (1938)
Housing Act (1938) that subsidized housing of the poor and working poor

In France...

The Republicans got separation of church and state passed and were radical Leftists. Don't let the name fool you, they weren't US Republicans.
In 1936, more than half of the French parliament seats were filled with racial Leftists, including out and out communists, socialists, and assorted other radical Leftists.

Many industries were nationalized, and industrial production took a nosedive. Rearmament didn't start until well into 1938 and then it was a cluster fuck of idiot bureaucrats and government setting design and production that resulted in lots of cost, shit equipment, and little getting made.
