Less than two weeks after a jury found a former Rancho High School teacher guilty of kidnapping a student to have sex with her, a Legacy High School teacher appeared in North Las Vegas Justice Court on Monday facing similar charges.

School district police arrested Frank Bayer, a 45-year-old English teacher, on Friday after he told investigators that he had sex with a student on multiple occasions last month in his van, according to a police report.

Bayer claimed the student had been pursuing him “for a couple of weeks” and also told investigators that they had physical contact in his classroom.

“I want to get the whole story out,” Bayer said in a voluntary statement after his arrest. “I want the (district attorney) to see that I am honest. I want probation. I do not want jail time,” the report reads.

Bayer faces three felony counts of first-degree kidnapping and five additional but lesser felony counts of sexual conduct between a school employee and 16- or 17-year-old pupil.

In Nevada, the age of consent is 16, but state law forbids sexual contact between students younger than 18 and school employees and volunteers older than 21.

State law also forbids an adult, without the permission of a parent or guardian, from enticing a minor with the intent to commit an unlawful act against him or her.

Last month, a jury convicted former Rancho teacher Jason Lofthouse on similar charges.

Jurors unanimously found Lofthouse, 33, guilty on 10 felony counts of sexual conduct with a student.

Lofthouse also was found guilty on two charges of kidnapping after the jury concluded that he enticed the student to hotels to have sex with her.

A first-degree kidnapping charge carries a sentence of five years to life in prison, compared to a one- to five-year prison sentence for the charge of sexual conduct between a school employee and student.

Not long after the student joined Bayer’s class, they started exchanging “hundreds” of private messages on a Facebook app, according to his and her statement in the police report.

Their communication later escalated to sharing nude pictures of each other, and the teacher-student contact became physical just before spring break.

The contact continued on and off campus through March 30, one day before the student’s foster parent alerted Legacy High administration to her suspicion about the teacher’s relationship with the girl.

A teacher facing child-pornography charges also hid a camera in a restroom used by performers, authorities alleged Wednesday.

Thomas Guzzi Jr. of Pitman was one of 16 New Jersey men accused of child-porn offenses after a state and federal sweep, officials said at a news conference.

The fifth-grade teacher at John H. Winslow Elementary School was arrested on charges of possessing and distributing child pornography. Authorities allege more than 100 files of child pornography were found on his personal computer.

Guzzi, 36, was a drama club adviser at the school. He allegedly hid a tablet computer to record people using a toilet in a rehearsal area.

A teacher at Bluffton High School was arrested after allegedly offering alcohol to students at the school's prom.

Tracy Butts turned herself in, according to a Bluffton Police Department news release.

According to the release, Butts offered two students alcohol at the prom, and the students refused to take it.

Butts denied the allegation, but admitted to having alcohol in her purse and drinking while she was there.

Butts is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Beaufort County School District spokesman Jim Foster said Butts is no longer employed by the district.

A teacher at a primary school in Vietnam is under investigation after allegedly hitting a pupil across the face with a ruler as a punishment.

The incident took place last Friday. The teacher reportedly became angry when the six-year-old pupil, identified only as T. in local media, misspelled a word during a dictation lesson.

Kylie Modisette, a teacher at Huntington Independent School District, was arrested and admitted she sent nude photos to a minor on Snapchat, police said.

Kisha Nuckols, 38, is accused of having sexual relations with students on multiple occasions and sending sexually-explicit photos of herself to students.

She faces two counts of child seduction (level 5 Felony), one count of child seduction (level 6 Felony) and one count of dissemination of matter harmful to minors (level 6 Felony).

Police say she made contact with several students via social media sites such as Snapchat, Kik, Twitter and Instagram.

Investigators allege she may have had inappropriate relationships with at least six students.

A Clear Lake High School teacher was arrested on school grounds after officers said he showed signs of being high on marijuana and was spotted hiding hash oil in an office bookcase, according to police.

School administrators called police after Michael Alan Oleson was seen driving erratically on streets leading to campus, according to the department.

A 26-year-old teacher at Notre Dame High School was arrested at his home.

Edmund Harman was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of criminal sexual contact. His bail was set at $150,000.

Harman allegedly met a student in his classroom before school started for extra credit.

According to police, the victim said Harman fondled her breasts, kissed the back of her neck and massaged her back and legs. Harman is also accused of directing the student to send him naked pictures.
