Barack Obama has awakened a sleeping nation
Gary Hubbell
Aspen Times Weekly February 2010

Barack Obama is the best thing that has happened to America in the last 100 years. Truly, he is the savior of America's future.

Despite the fact that he has some of the lowest approval ratings among recent presidents, history will see Barack Obama as the source of America 's resurrection. Barack Obama has plunged the country into levels of debt that we could not have previously imagined; his efforts to nationalize health care have been met with fierce resistance nationwide; TARP bailouts and stimulus spending have shown little positive effect on the national economy; unemployment is unacceptably high and looks to remain that way for most of a decade; legacy entitlement programs have ballooned to unsustainable levels, and there is a seething anger in the populace.

That's why Barack Obama is such a good thing for America . Here's why.

Obama is the symbol of a creeping liberalism that has infected our society like a cancer for the last 100 years. Just as Hitler is the face of fascism, Obama will go down in history as the face of unchecked liberalism. The cancer metastasized to the point where it could no longer be ignored.

Average Americans who have quietly gone about their lives, earning a paycheck, contributing to their favorite charities, going to high school football games on Friday night, spending their weekends at the beach or on hunting trips - they've gotten off the fence. They've woken up. There is a level of political activism in this country that we haven't seen since the American Revolution, and Barack Obama has been the catalyst that has sparked a restructuring of the American political and social consciousness.

Think of the crap we've slowly learned to tolerate over the past 50 years as liberalism sought to re-structure the America that was the symbol of freedom and liberty to all the people of the world. Immigration laws were ignored on the basis of compassion. Welfare policies encouraged irresponsibility, the fracturing of families, and a cycle of generations of dependency. Debt was regarded as a tonic to lubricate the economy. Our children left school having been taught that they are exceptional and special, while great numbers of them cannot perform basic functions of mathematics and literacy. Legislators decided that people could not be trusted to defend their own homes, and stripped citizens of their rights to own firearms. Productive members of society have been penalized with a heavy burden of taxes in order to support legions of do-nothings who loll around, reveling in their addictions, obesity, indolence, ignorance and "disabilities." Criminals have been arrested and re-arrested, coddled and set free to pillage the citizenry yet again. Lawyers routinely extort fortunes from doctors, contractors and business people with dubious torts.

We slowly learned to tolerate these outrages, shaking our heads in disbelief, and we went on with our lives.

But Barack Obama has ripped the lid off a seething cauldron of dissatisfaction and unrest.

A former Communist is given a paid government position in the White House as an advisor to the president. Auto companies are taken over by the government, and the auto workers' union - whose contracts are completely insupportable in any economic sense - is rewarded with a stake in the company. Government bails out Wall Street investment bankers and insurance companies, who pay their executives outrageous bonuses as thanks for the public support. Terrorists are read their Miranda rights and given free lawyers. And, despite overwhelming public disapproval, Barack Obama has pushed forward with a health care plan that would re-structure one-sixth of the American economy.

Literally millions of Americans have had enough. They're organizing, they're studying the Constitution and the Federalist Papers, they're reading history and case law, they're showing up at rallies and meetings, and a slew of conservative candidates are throwing their hats into the ring. Is there a revolution brewing? Yes, in the sense that there is a keen awareness that our priorities and sensibilities must be radically re-structured. Will it be a violent revolution? No. It will be done through the interpretation of the original document that has guided us for 220 "FANTASTIC" years--- the Constitution. Just as the pendulum swung to embrace political correctness and liberalism, there will be a backlash, a complete repudiation of a hundred years of nonsense. A hundred years from now, history will perceive the year 2010 as the time when America got back on the right track. And for that, we can thank Barack Hussein Obama.

It is clear that the writer of this is totally insane and we demand that he should be committed to a place of safety at the earliest possible opportunity.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, concludes the evidence for the prosecution.

and you wonder why your country is sinking faster than the Titanic.

I don't wonder, I know!

Productive members of society have been penalized with a heavy burden of taxes in order to support legions of do-nothings who loll around, reveling in their addictions, obesity, indolence, ignorance and "disabilities."

It's the same old "I work harder than you" Conservative bull$hit. Conservatives thrive in a society where people scratch and scrape their way through life getting satisfaction from seeing others struggling because they feel they've struggled more than anyone else. They've sacrificed more than anyone else.

In their greedy mind their money has been "hard earned" while everyone else has been given a free ride. The Conservative enjoys all the benefits government works/projects have provided but despise paying taxes because, after all, they worked harder for their money than anyone else.

The individual who wrote the following understood the typical Joe Republican. (Excerpt) Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffee pot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards.

With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised. All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too.

He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained.

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air.

He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union.

If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

It is noon time and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe also forgets that his in addition to his federally subsidized student loans, he attended a state funded university.

Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the tax-payer funded roads.

He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans.

The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification.

He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to.

Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. Joe agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have." (End)

That article does hit home, doesn’t it?

Conservatives want contaninated water and dirty air?
Conservatives want poisoned food supplies?

I’m sure Conservatives do not want those things. The point is they don’t want to pay for them. Just like the Joe Republican article states. The Conservative takes advantage of all the government services but continually complain about taxes. Just like that financially challenged Joe the Plumber rambling on about tax increases and buying a business.

Remember that ludicrous comment when he said he wouldn’t buy a business because of the proposed tax increase which amounted to an extra $800.00 on an additional income of $25,000.00. No sirree. If Joe has the opportunity to make an additional $25,000.00 he’d decline if it resulted in him only making $24,200.00. That is Joe, the plumber and the Republican.

You don't like the guys email,
Try addressing something he talks about, something relevant.

Something relevant? My reply was relevant. The overarching point is the typical Conservative is a self-centered, disgruntled individual. Because they feel they’ve sacrificed far more than others they get satisfaction from seeing others struggling. What other possible reason could they have for not wanting to help others, to believe there are “legions of do-nothings who loll around, reveling in their addictions, obesity, indolence, ignorance and "disabilities." What sick mind would think that way of their fellow human beings?

Let’s look at some of the perversions the author regurgitates.

1.Immigration laws were ignored on the basis of compassion.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

I wonder what that was all about??

2. Welfare policies encouraged irresponsibility, the fracturing of families, and a cycle of generations of dependency.

The Conservative believes a woman and her children should be forced, through denial of financial help, to tolerate a domineering tyrant of a husband/father. It’s the God-fearing way to live. Of course, we can couple that with the woman being subjected to unwanted pregnancies by her domineering tyrant of a husband and forced to bear the children. It’s God’s way, they tell us.

3. Our children left school having been taught that they are exceptional and special….

The Conservative idea of child-rearing is a good, old-fashioned thrashing in the wood shed every once in a while. I’m sure you’re familiar with the God-fearing “spare the rod and spoil the child” bullshit which reminds me of when I was in high school and the Principal attempted to strap a kid whose parents were prominent in town. The kid warned the Principal not to try but he didn’t heed the warning and ended up with a black eye. The Principal contemplated having the boy expelled from the school, however, his parents made it clear they would do all they could to run him out of town if he didn’t STFU and STFD. And, yes, that "kid" was and still is a friend of mine. :) And, yes, the kid did return to school.

4. Auto companies are taken over by the government, and the auto workers' union - whose contracts are completely insupportable in any economic sense - is rewarded with a stake in the company.

I know, to a Conservative, it’s outrageous for the government to support a company thereby ensuring jobs and pensions to people who worked for the company for 25 or 30 or more years. Let’s just flush their 30 years of contributions and give them food stamps unless, of course, the Conservative is opposed to food stamps. Perhaps you can let me know.

5. Terrorists are read their Miranda rights and given free lawyers.

Here we have another good one. Like that 15 year old charged with being a terrorist/enemy combatant because…..are you ready for this….he wasn’t wearing a uniform when he attacked US troops. Yep, people living in mud huts whose financial wealth is a goat and a few chickens have to wear an official uniform if they intend to protect their country from invaders, otherwise, they’re not entitled to the most basic of human rights protections.

Were those sufficient, relevant responses to the Conservative drivel you posted?

That article does hit home, doesn’t it?
Yes, I'd say Mr. Gary Hubbell's email hits home.... thats the reason you posted you strawman lies, which I see you admit to below...

So if your sure Conservatives don't want contaminated water, etc., just say that, not the crappy lies you did post.
We complain about taxes because we KNOW that just about every good program get from government can be paid for with half the present tax rate....we complain about

over paid federal workers...overpaid by 100+% compared to the same job in the private sector...
outrageous pensions for these workers...70 and 80%+ of when they actually worked..
overpaid legislators, and more overly generous pensions
subsidies to losers like Amtrak, a company that has NEVER seen a profitable year since they've existed
outrageous prices paid by the government for everything they buy, including military equipment
"make work" projects like they are doing right now, repaving perfectly good highways, painting bridges that need no painting, landscaping along highways just to use up their budgets, etc...
And I could go on and on and on....the point is the astounding amount of waste, fraud, and outright theft in government ...and we all know it...
http://www.caltax.org/waste/waste_current.html

Remember that ludicrous comment when he said he wouldn’t buy a business because of the proposed tax increase which amounted to an extra $800.00 on an additional income of $25,000.00. No sirree. If Joe has the opportunity to make an additional $25,000.00 he’d decline if it resulted in him only making $24,200.00. That is Joe, the plumber and the Republican.

Joe the plumber is irrelevant and more strawman crap

Your reply was not relevant because by your own admission it was nothing but lies...clever prose, nicely served "koolade" for pinhead consumption.

Let’s look at some of the perversions the author regurgitates.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Its about our welcoming immigrants that obey and respect our laws...
WTF was your perverted conception or it...?

2. Welfare policies encouraged irresponsibility, the fracturing of families, and a cycle of generations of dependency.

We, commonly have 2,3 and 4 generations of familys on welfare. Its a way of life....do you doubt this FACT? Bill Clinton's wefare reform worked to change this in the 90's and it worked....

Thats just nonsense...to freakin' stupid an accusation to ever reply to...'

3. Our children left school having been taught that they are exceptional and special….
WTF are you even talking about

There are all kinds of parents in the world, pinhead.....and conservative, liberal, Republican, Democrat, or Communist is irrelevant to how a parent cares for their family...
and on that note, I see no point in even continuing with a longer reply.
You need to take your meds...

It is not the governments job to use taxpayers money to bail out workers whose greed has run a company into the ground and then be rewarded by taxpayers giving them half the ownership of the company.

(apple0154) That article does hit home, doesn’t it?

(Bravo)Yes, I'd say Mr. Gary Hubbell's email hits home.... thats the reason you posted you strawman lies, which I see you admit to below...

(Apple)I’m sure Conservatives do not want those things. The point is they don’t want to pay for them. Just like the Joe Republican article states. The Conservative takes advantage of all the government services but continually complain about taxes. Just like that financially challenged Joe the Plumber rambling on about tax increases and buying a business.

.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

(Bravo) So if your sure Conservatives don't want contaminated water, etc., just say that, not the crappy lies you did post.

(Apple) The solution is to examine each expense rather than just a uniform "cut taxes". Ways have to be found to still provide the services before tax cuts are implemented because it almost always ends up with programs/projects being shelved and the waste continues in other areas.Tax cuts always target the poor. Government housing is abandoned but the roads are still unnecessarily re-paved and landscaping done.

.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

(Apple) Remember that ludicrous comment when he said he wouldn’t buy a business because of the proposed tax increase which amounted to an extra $800.00 on an additional income of $25,000.00. No sirree. If Joe has the opportunity to make an additional $25,000.00 he’d decline if it resulted in him only making $24,200.00. That is Joe, the plumber and the Republican.

(Bravo) Joe the plumber is irrelevant and more strawman crap

(Apple) Irrelevant and a strawman? The Republican Party (McCain) was showcasing good, old Joe as the typical Repub. What could be more relevant?

.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

(Apple) Something relevant? My reply was relevant. The overarching point is the typical Conservative is a self-centered, disgruntled individual. Because they feel they’ve sacrificed far more than others they get satisfaction from seeing others struggling. What other possible reason could they have for not wanting to help others, to believe there are “legions of do-nothings who loll around, reveling in their addictions, obesity, indolence, ignorance and "disabilities." What sick mind would think that way of their fellow human beings?

(Bravo) Your reply was not relevant because by your own admission it was nothing but lies...clever prose, nicely served "koolade" for pinhead consumption.

(Apple) Clever prose? It was a Conservative who rambled on about the “legions of do-nothings" because, as I stated, Conservatives tend to feel they are the workers, the strugglers, the hard done by.

(Bravo) Its about our welcoming immigrants that obey and respect our laws...
WTF was your perverted conception or it...?

(Apple) Obey and respect laws? Statistics show immigrants commit the fewest crimes. Try again.

(Apple) 2. Welfare policies encouraged irresponsibility, the fracturing of families, and a cycle of generations of dependency.

(Bravo) We, commonly have 2,3 and 4 generations of familys on welfare. Its a way of life....do you doubt this FACT? Bill Clinton's wefare reform worked to change this in the 90's and it worked....

(Apple) Of course children brought up not knowing anything else will follow in their parent's footsteps. The more involvement through government, schools, clubs, organizations, etc. the better off the children will become.

When the only way they can eat or buy clothes is to steal they are going to steal. Subsisting on welfare they have no choice but to try and improve their condition, any way possible.

(Apple) Then what did the author mean by "Welfare policies encouraged irresponsibility, the fracturing of families, and a cycle of generations of dependency." How did/does welfare fracture families other than allowing a woman and children to get away from a domineering tyrant?

3. Our children left school having been taught that they are exceptional and special….

(Apple) Yes, there are, indeed, all kinds of parents in the world. Parents who don't discuss sex or allow their children to carry condoms, just in case.

Here's a video aimed at teens and teen parents. Maybe if this video was shown during family hour it would get the conversation going? http://www.babychums.com/2009/05/teenager-giving-birth-in-a-playground-video-banned-by-youtube/

(Apple) It was not the employee's greed which ran the company into the ground. It was poor products designed, year after year, by those in charge. It was mismanagement that resulted in employees getting the shaft if the government had not bailed them out.

Other car companies were selling their product. It was time to kick out the management. :)

(Apple) 5. Terrorists are read their Miranda rights and given free lawyers.

I see you didn't comment on #5. I understand. That's OK.
