Interesting that "griner" is a rearrangement of "ringer". (Men in female sports)

Men in female sports are called ringers and are very common as is to be expected. Griner is 6 9 and married to a woman and has a very masculine voice.

Were the russians about to out her as a man? She competed in the olympics and those medals would then have to be returned. Is that why the U.S. made this idiotic trade of a useless athlete for an arms dealer.?

Let's start calling it that. Britney Ringer. HAHAHA

A "ringer" is often known as someone at the top of their game.
Kinda like in the world of shooting sports, the Marines would send one (or more) of their "ringers" to the competitions they sponsored so a civilian or competitor from another division of the military (Army, for example) was met with one (or more) of their best. The Army sent "ringers" to the shooting events they sponsored...

BS - ringer is a man competing as a female in a female sports league. That's always been the meaning.

No, it really hasn't.

According to Merriam -Webster:

ringer (noun)

a(1)
: one that enters a competition under false representations

(2)
: imposter, fake

So, while Griner could be considered a "ringer", it has nothing at all to do with men competing in a female sports league.

A better example of a "ringer" would be a professional baseball player claiming to be an amateur so he could participate in an amateur baseball tournament...
