Irelands richer than the US now...

....As if amount of goods and services provided means anything valuable. Are they free from the encircling claw of the EU and their fascist thought police?

Of course, Asshat. Richness has nothing to do with the amount of goods and services available to the average person. That's ridiculous. The richness of a nation is directly proportional to how many Jews it slaughters, a month.

That's right. It doesn't. I would like to see a chart of the personal savings of irish people. An abundance of choices purchased with credit is merely an illusion of well-being.

Ireland is still a complete rejection of american conservative republican and american libertarian philosophy:

generous public pensions (aka, social security)
a generous minimum wage
free college education for citizens
strong public schools
national public heathcare system
generous unemployment benefits

I never said that Ireland didn't have a state-powered economy.

However, the gains in Ireland have mostly been made as the government has made itself more efficient over the years.

I know you weren't WM. Ireland, as indeed may europeans, I think have moved towards that Third Way form of liberalism.

Still, Irelands neoliberal economic policies, combined with their social democratic welfare state has much more in common with Clinton/Obama/Edwards, than with Barry Goldwater Ron Paul, or Tom Tancredo.
