is THIS tyranny?

Angel Dobbs, 38, and her niece, Ashley Dobbs, 24, said the search occurred on State Highway 161 in or near Irving on the night of July 13.

They claim that a female trooper, Kelley Helleson, used her fingers to search their anuses and vaginas — using the same latex glove — while on the side of the road in full view of passing vehicles.

They said David Farrell, a state trooper, had called Helleson to the scene after stopping the women’s vehicle and questioning them about marijuana. Farrell told them he stopped them after seeing them throw cigarette butts out of the window, according to the lawsuit.

He asked for the search because he said the women were “acting weird,” the suit said.

Farrell searched their vehicle for marijuana but didn’t find any, they said. He then tried to “morph this situation into a DWI investigation,” the lawsuit said. Angel Dobbs passed a roadside sobriety test and the women were given warnings for littering, the suit said.

During the search of Angel Dobbs’ anus, Helleson irritated one of the cysts she suffers from, the lawsuit said, causing her “severe and continuing pain and discomfort.”

“Angel Dobbs was overwhelmed with emotion and a feeling of helplessness and reacted stating that Helleson had just violated her in a most horrific manner,” the lawsuit said.

This is an abuse of authority.

It is a far, far cry from tyranny. You do a great disservice to the millions who have had to live under real tyranny by equating this with tyranny.

the complaint was filed, nothing was ever done to these two officers. how is that not tyranny?

from the declaration itself, one of the reasons we split from britain:
For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:
For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

imagine that was your mother and sister, or wife and daughter.

I appreciate what you're saying, and I'm not trying to say that we have it good, so we shouldn't complain.

But this is what it is - an egregious abuse of authority. The fact that it was dismissed means that the systemic failure runs deeper. But a non-tyrannical system doesn't necessarily guarantee that incidents like this won't happen, and that there will be perfect justice when they do. There is recourse, though, from the lowest levels to the highest, and it is found in our ability to elect people at every level and replace people when there is systemic failure.

Under tyranny, this kind of thing is not only not correctable, but behavior like this is encouraged to keep the masses compliant. There is no such thing as "recourse." Tyranny is brutal.

so you would need examples of where treatment like this (abuses in general) is not only tolerated, but encouraged?

Where do you get the idea nothing was done?

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office says the case is being investigated by the office’s public integrity division and will go before a grand jury in January.

that 1 in 100 cases presented to a grand jury when a cop is the possible criminal actually results in any charges. you know how grand juries work, right?

Sure I do...when smartass stoners get caught in the act they lie to weasel their way out of the charge. Grand juries figure that out real quick.

I personally would trust a police officer over a smartass stoner.

But then I wasn't kicked out of the military for being a perv.

so other than your idiotic assumptions, you don't know. wouldn't it have been easier to say no?

From the personal history you've revealed; it's probably safe to say that's exactly why you were kicked out.
You just let to may guys on KP, pack your lunch.

Yes, this is tyranny.

Just another day in the NAZI United States.

Everyone should know this isn't a free country. But yet,,,, some people don't.

If you voted for the republicans, or democrats, you deserve a cavity search on a regular basis.

more slippery slope

-Starting on January 1st, it is now illegal to make or import 75 watt incandescent light bulbs anywhere in the United States.

-In Oregon, it is illegal to collect rainwater that falls on your own property.

-In New Jersey, it is illegal to have an unrestrained cat or dog in your vehicle while you are driving.

-If you milk your cow and sell some of the milk to your neighbor, you could end up having your home raided by federal agents.

-In Miami Beach, Florida you must recycle your trash properly or face huge fines.

-All over the United States, cops are shutting down lemonade stands run by children because they don’t have the proper permits.

-Down in Tulsa, Oklahoma one unemployed woman had her survival garden brutally ripped out and carted away by government thugs because it did not conform to regulations.

-Over in Massachusetts, all children in daycare centers are mandated by state law to brush their teeth after lunch. In fact, the state even provides the fluoride toothpaste for the children.

-At one public school down in Texas, a 12-year-old girl named Sarah Bustamantes was arrested for spraying herself with perfume.

-A 13-year-old student at a school in Albuquerque, New Mexico was arrested by police for burping in class.

-All over the United States cities have passed laws that actually make it illegal to feed the homeless.

Great hyperbole!

http://www.wired.com/business/2013/01/facebook-in-court/

U.S. courts have a structural bias against “guilty” verdicts, but when it comes to Facebook data the situation is reversed: Social media activity is more readily used to convict you in a court of law than to defend you.

That’s because prosecutors generally have an easier time than defense attorneys getting private information out of Facebook and other social networks, as highlighted in an ongoing Portland murder case. In that case, the defense attorney has evidence of a Facebook conversation in which a key witness reportedly tells a friend he was pressured by police into falsely incriminating the defendant.

Facebook rebuffed the defense attorney’s subpoena seeking access to the conversation, citing the federal Stored Communications Act, which protects the privacy of electronic communications like e-mail – but which carves out an exemption for law enforcement, thus assisting prosecutors. “It’s so one-sided … they cooperate 110 percent anytime someone in the government asks for information,” one Oregon attorney told the Portland Oregonian, citing a separate case in which Facebook withheld conversations that could have disproved a rape charge, but turned over the same conversations when the prosecution demanded them.
