What the author fails to mention is if "Blue" states left to their own, then who is going to build your buildings, your highways, maintain your infrastructure.
You know, the "trades", and how about fight your wars, protect your streets, the backbone of any society.

Right now Blue States are subsidizing Red States highways. Without needing to pay those subsides, Blue States would be better off. There are more than enough soldiers from Blue States, and they are far better educated soldiers. This is the age of the educated soldier, and Red States are short on education.

Trade? America is powerful because of Wall Street, Silicon Valley, Hollywood, MIT, etc. (notice a pattern)

If any group leaves the US, or forms a separate US, or whatever, they take the people who get Social Security with them, but they also take the people who pay Social Security with them. So the question is the balance.
